Introduced in 1990 as a high-performance version of the half-ton Chevrolet C1500 pickup, the 454 SS features a 7.4-liter V8 engine, a locking rear differential, model-specific bucket seats, variable-ratio power steering, and an upgraded suspension with Bilstein shocks. This 1990 example is finished in Onyx Black over a Garnet velour interior and equipped with a 3-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, cruise control, a modified exhaust system, an aftermarket grille, a bed carpet kit, and a Sony head unit. Showing just over 18k miles on the odometer, this rare Chevrolet 454 SS pickup is now being offered for auction out of New York.
The 454 SS is distinguished from other Chevrolet short-bed pickups by its front air dam, aero-style mirrors, body-color bumpers, bed side decals, and red badging. This example is finished in Onyx Black, the sole color offered for the 1990 model year. It comes equipped with halogen headlamps, integrated fog lights, an aftermarket grille, a sliding rear window, a removable tailgate, polished dual tailpipes, a tonneau cover, a bed carpet kit, and factory 15” wheels. The seller notes some chips and scratches around the exterior and the CARFAX report shows an accident occurred in October 2006.
The cabin features Garnet velour and vinyl upholstery with matching carpets. Equipment includes model-specific high-back bucket seats, Garnet seatbelts, power windows and door locks, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, a cupholder center console, and an aftermarket Sony stereo.
Derived from the contemporary Silverado 3500 series, the fuel-injected 7.4-liter (454ci) V8 engine delivers up to 230 HP and 385 lb.-ft of torque stock to the rear wheels through a 3-speed THM400 automatic transmission and a locking 3.73 rear differential. Performance features include an engine and transmission oil cooler, a heavy-duty radiator, independent front suspension, Bilstein-gas-filled shock absorbers, a front stabilizer bar, power-assisted front disc brakes, rear-wheel ABS, and a fast-ratio power steering gear assembly. The seller notes the catalytic converters have been removed and the exhaust is modified with aftermarket components. The CARFAX report shows services completed in September 2024 including four tires mounted and balanced, a serpentine belt replacement, an idler arm and pitman arm replaced, an oil and filter change, a two-wheel alignment, new wheel cylinders, and the removal of a nitrous system.
This sale will include a window sticker, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.
