We are pleased to present this collector-grade 1989 911 Speedster. One of only 823 '89 Speedsters built for the U.S. market, this example was originally ordered through Max Dial Porsche of Inglewood, CA. This car had been driven approximately 2k miles by its original owner before being purchased by its current owner in March of 1992. This Speedster subsequently became part of the owner’s collection and was driven only 1,483 miles between 1992 and 2013. Now showing just 3k miles on the odometer, this Speedster is being offered for auction in completely original and concours-ready condition on behalf of the owner’s trust in southern California.
Finished in classic Grand Prix White over Cashmere Beige, this Speedster is said to boast entirely original paint and stand in exceptional condition. A tiny rock chip is present on the hood near the badge as well as a soft depression and hairline crack in the finish on the rear deck lid; The seller has provided detailed phots of any imperfections. This Speedster rides on rare factory color-matched Fuchs wheels which come wrapped in brand new Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires. This car’s undercarriage is reportedly rust-free without any damage. This has to be one of the most well preserved 911 Speedsters on the market at this time.
Inside, the Cashmere Beige leather interior remains entirely stock and in near-showroom condition. The dashboard and door panels are free of any cracks or warping and the seat bolsters are without creasing. Sheepskin seat covers were fitted in the 1990’s as a protective measure, so there are some faint depressions in the leather caused by the elastic band which the seller says will recede with time. The original Blaupunkt Charleston radio is retained and fully functional, along with all other electronics and gauges. The climate control system is working, however, the A/C does not blow cold at this time. The original soft top looks to be in excellent condition and free of any wear. Remarkably original, this Speedster is a true time capsule. The factory build sheet for this example reads as follows:
The original numbers-matching 3.2L flat-six motor is said to run strong and idle consistently. 215HP is sent to the rear wheels via a smooth shifting 5-speed manual G-50 transmission. After being removed from storage, this Speedster underwent a comprehensive service and inspection by Schneider Autohaus, receiving a clean bill of health. The factory Turbo-style brakes were serviced in February 2019, and the inspection noted 10mm of brake pad thickness at all four corners. This car is said to require no mechanical attention and is being offered in complete turn-key condition. Some notable recent service items include:
This sale of this Speedster will include original owner’s books, the factory toolkit, an air compressor, spare tire, multiple keys, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, original sales invoice and a folder of records and documentation from the last 27 years. A clean Carfax report free of any accidents or mechanical trouble will also be provided. This car is accompanied by a clear California title and is ready for prompt delivery. With its unique configuration, low miles and high originality, this Speedster is sure to satisfy even the most discerning collector. Do not miss your opportunity to own this rare piece of Porsche history.

@Mercyhealth - When we brought the car to Schneider Autohaus (an extremely well-regarded local Porsche specialist in business for 50+ years), they were instructed to recommission the car after a 5+ years in proper storage, doing everything they would do if it were their own (no budget). They brought up the A/C, but their opinion (and one shared by many) was that the system was mediocre to begin with, R12 is difficult to source here in Santa Barbara (at least legally) and because the car is 100% original, it would be best to leave it up to the next owner (who would potentially be in another state where R12 can be sourced) on whether or not to convert the system to R134A.

Outstanding well preserved Speedster. Would be nice if it went to a home where it would continue to be preserved and cared for. Some may disagree.
