Produced between 1981 and 1994, the Maserati Biturbo is a range of luxury grand tourers powered by twin-turbocharged V6 engines. It was originally designed by Maserati’s own Pierangelo Andreani and underwent restyling by Marcello Gandini in 1987. This 1989 Maserati Biturbo Spyder is finished in Maserati Red over a beige interior and features a twin-turbo 2.8-liter V6 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Said to be a lifelong Northern California car, this Biturbo Spyder was purchased by the seller from a local collector about two years ago and has been driven approximately 200 miles since. It is now being offered for auction with just under 21k miles on the odometer.

While the Biturbo Coupe was produced by Maserati in Modena, Italy, the Spyder version was made by Zagato in Milan. The car’s bodywork was restyled by Marcelo Gandini in 1987 including smoother body lines, a revised mesh grille, aerodynamic wing mirrors, and 15” alloy disc wheels on 5-lug hubs. This example is finished in Maserati Red and features a black convertible top, a front spoiler, yellow-tinted fog lamps, Zagato badging, and quad exhaust tips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin features bolstered sport seats in beige leather and microsuede upholstery with a matching dashboard, door panels, and center console. Contrasting black carpets line the footwells and wood trim adorns the dashboard, door panels, shift knob, and center console. Accessories include a brown leather four-spoke steering wheel and matching instrument binnacle, an adjustable steering column, blue instrument dials, a microsuede headliner, a Maserati-branded clock, power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, and a stereo system.

Up to 225 HP and 246 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, power rack & pinion steering, and a limited-slip differential. The seller indicates the exhaust may have been modified under previous ownership.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I owned the car for two years and purchased it from a local collector. I put in maybe 200 miles since I owned it and have only taken the car to shows.”

Thank you. It is due now for new tuning belts based on years, just like Ferraris, time vs mileage whichever comes first: 3-5 years or 15,000 miles.
I am interested in the car for the right price

@Dinodinodino I found the receipt timing belt was replaced in 2018 when the car had 20,275 miles. That is before my ownership.

@Dinodinodino I don't know, but I have a lot of service records that I need to review. I will check them tomorrow. I did PPI before purchasing the car, and the mechanic shop told me the car did not need anything.
As far as smog is concerned, it passed two times during my ownership. I don't see any reason not to pass.

    Hi-
Even though the mileage is low, there should be service documents showing the last time the cam belts were changed and the valves were adjusted (water pump replaced) as these are critical, especially for this car… based on time regardless of miles driven. Please let me know.
Also as I am in California , the car passes smog ?
    Thank you

@Epicmc Top is manual. Italian cars didn't come with automatic convertible top in 80's

Regarding the top, I have not opened the top during my ownership. I try to open the top and get some photos.

Sorry for the error! yes, there are service records, including some from the previous owners, with Ferrari mechanic Giorgio Motors, who I believe has retired. All the records will be provided with the car. The photo is uploaded. Just bear in mind that the car has 20,000 miles records are limited due to the mileage.
