Purchased out of California about two and a half years ago, this 1989 Land Rover 90 has since undergone a comprehensive custom restoration featuring a new LS3 V8 crate motor and a 6L80 automatic transmission. The exterior was refurbished and refinished in the OEM Land Rover color of Heritage Green and the cabin was redone in Camel leather and Scottish plaid upholstery with blue piping, Alcantara headliner, and 3M boat decking wood floors in the rear. The truck also features a new LT230 transfer case, a Lokar gas pedal, a GM performance ECU, a Puma-style bulkhead and hood, a roof rack, a front winch, LED lighting, 18” Kahn wheels, power windows, air conditioning, black billet door handles, and rear jump seats. Showing just over 500 miles on the odometer since the restoration, this custom Land Rover 90 is now being offered for auction out of Georgia.
During the restoration, the truck was completely disassembled, and some panels were repaired and replaced before the exterior was refinished in Land Rover OEM Heritage Green paint. The bulkhead underwent a Puma-style conversion and was galvanized and powder-coated for longevity. Accessories include a Puma-style hood, black billet door handles, full LED lighting, a roof rack, a front winch, a front skid plate, dual mirrors, black tubular side steps, black checker plate fender and rocker trim, black wheel arch flares, and a black tubular rear bumper. The truck rides on black 18” Kahn wheels with matching lug nuts, chrome Land Rover center caps, and 5mm spacers. The wheels are dressed in new BFGoodrich tires, and a matching full-size spare wheel is mounted on a rear swing-out carrier. Photos and video of the restoration are provided in the gallery.
The cabin has been professionally redesigned and upholstered with Camel leather and imported Scottish tartan cloth complemented by blue piping and Alcantara headliner. The rear compartment is lined with 3M boat decking wood lock flooring and features opposing jump seats. Other details include a leather-wrapped Puma dashboard conversion, a black leather two-spoke steering wheel, a leather-wrapped body bar, black billet inner door handles, a leather-wrapped center console with stainless hardware, a Puma air conditioning kit, updated door panels with power windows, new VDO gauges, a double-din touchscreen Bluetooth head unit, and a backup camera.
Rated at 500 HP, the 6.2-liter GM LS3 V8 crate engine features a GM Performance ECU, a SpearTech standalone wiring harness, a Lokar gas pedal, and an aluminum LS radiator with integrated cooling fans. Power is sent to all four wheels through a new GM 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission and an LT230 transfer case. A transmission oil cooler and cooling fan are mounted below the chassis. The seller adds that the engine and transmission are covered by a GM factory 50k-mile warranty.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to now: “This Defender 90 was as fun build and really transformed this vehicle from a doomsday military style to an Urban Luxury SUV. All Stainless Hardware throughout, All black panels were powder coated for longevity. A quality build and happy for the next owner to enjoy.”

@Urbanmotorworks reserve strategy was to price low *
@td_05 our reserve strategy was to follow in hopes we can get a couple folks to duke it out. Truck should sell.
@td_05 stock setup and our reasoning was that a 300TDI motor weighs 250kg which is 550 lbs. Aluminum LS3 motor weighs 415 lbs. 6l80 transmission weighs 196 lbs and a R380 with bell housing is a 100ish lbs. the GM setup is in the same weight category as the turbo diesel. Stopping power will be similar with both drivetrains. Although nice and pricey we chose to not go with brake upgrade. Saved about $15k and we were able to pass that savings to the next person.
@urbanmotorworks has any work been done to the brakes in terms of upgrades?

@RASKL I was able to find some photos of when we were fitting the drivetrain you can see where the TC shifter is, was able to get it in the bottom left pocket of the trans tunnel
@Urbanmotorworks need to push the motor as far forward as possible to achieve that position.
@RASKL yes sorry about that. Pictures were taken before we popped the knob on. Didn’t catch it until I posted. Shift knob is on now. The trans tunnel nor the seatbox were cut to fit the shifter. Reason why we rotated the air intake backwards to fit the shifters. It’s a Disco 1 automatic shifter.
The location of the four-wheel-drive shifter has just the leather boot bunched up, but no shifter sticking up out of it. What is the situation there? It looks like parts of the shift knob are in the cup holders?
