Finished in rare Maraschino Red Metallic, this 1988 Porsche 944 is equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle paired with its 2.5-liter inline-four engine. It features power-adjustable Cinnamon Brown leather seats, a 944 Turbo rear valence, pop-up headlamps, 15” phone dial alloy wheels, a removable sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, a central locking system, a rear window wiper, and an Alpine Bluetooth stereo. Benefitting from recent services including a new timing belt, water pump, fuel lines, and spark plugs, this 944 is now being offered for auction out of Rhode Island with approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer.

This 944 came factory-finished in Maraschino Red Metallic (LY3V) and is equipped with pop-up headlamps, fog lights, power mirrors, a removable sunroof, a rear window wiper, a rear spoiler, a polished exhaust tip, and a 944 Turbo lower rear valence. It rides on factory 15” phone dial alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller indicates the car was completely disassembled and refinished in its original color many years ago, and the exterior remains in good overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black and Grey-Beige interior features power-adjustable Cinnamon Brown leather seats, a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, a digital clock, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket Alpine Bluetooth stereo. The original Blaupunkt Monterey radio is included in the sale. Recent refurbishments include A/C system service, a new rear wiper switch, sunroof cables, and sun visor retaining clips.

Producing up to 160 HP and 155 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller indicates the car was recently serviced with a new timing belt, water pump, clutch, master and slave cylinders, a new pressure plate, throwout bearing, fuel lines, and spark plugs.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, the original Blaupunkt radio, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an extraordinarily nice 1988 Porsche 944 that I have personally known for over 30 years. Back in my days with Inskip Porsche, I helped my body shop manager acquire an extraordinarily nice car. He totally disassembled it and refinished it with Sikkens automotive paint and then reassembled the car. When you look for all the usual places where you can verify a repaint, this car has none of that. The jams are perfect, no overspray anywhere. The kind of work of master auto body man does for himself. The quality of this repaint is equal to or better than the paint this automobile was born with. There are no nicks scratches, dents, or any other flaws other than the gravel guards aging poorly. It has an unusual factory color combination which sets it aside from other cars in the usual Guards red with black. I have thoroughly serviced and done the upgrades to this vehicle; it needs nothing. This vehicle still includes all its born-with accessories including tire air pump, tool roll, all keys, rear cargo cover, wheel locks, manuals, spare tire, and more. This car is Maraschino red over Gray Beige (light beige) carpets with Cinnamon Brown upholstery as decoded from the original build certificate still affixed to the body of the car. It is a non-smoker car with a clean Carfax History Report. The paint on this car is absolutely perfect! No nicks, no scratches, no corrosion, and no damage whatsoever; the only fault is the gravel guards are starting to age. And when you look into the interior notice the condition of the upholstery and the carpets there in outstanding condition. When I purchased this automobile, it was a beautiful running and driving Porsche. I wanted it the way I wanted it, so over the last year or so, I did the following services and mechanical upgrades to bring it up to spec and make it mechanically sound. Recent services performed are timing belt, new sun visor retaining clips, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, throughout barring, LOF, new rear wiper switch, AC service, wiper blades, tires, full mechanical replacement of all cables, etc. for sunroof operation, Fuel lines, full tune up and much, much more! If you’re looking for a Porsche 944 in outstanding condition as a driver, track day car, or show then this should be your new Porsche.”

@RASno7 Thanks for the response. I see what you mean about that that photo.

@Spokayman I think it's just the lighting in a lot of the photos that make the seats look like different browns - flash on the front seats but back is in shadow in a lot of the images. If you look at #124 - passenger seat and back seat are in similar lighting and look the same color. Same photo (124) driver and passenger seat look like different browns ... but in other pictures they are clearly the same.

Despite assurances from the seller that the front and back seats match, I can’t see it.
They look like completely different shades of brown. Were the front seats recovered?

The 1988 model 944s have the advantage of slightly higher horsepower than previous years as a result of a slightly higher compression ratio. The numbers vary, but it's about 158 HP, vs. 148 or less for 1987 & earlier na's. And yes, because it's such a light car, you can feel the difference.

Indead the front and rear upholstery do in fact match, Cinnamon Brown.

  • WillyWinkle (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

The rear seat upholstery does not match the front seat upholstery, is that correct?
