We are pleased to present this exceptionally clean 1988 928 S4. Offering the performance of a sports car coupled with the drivability and comfort of a luxury sedan, the 928 was Porsche’s ultimate grand tourer. Originally sold by Holbert Motor Cars on October 20th 1987, this 928 S4 was purchased by the current owner in 2010. Complete with some desirable factory add-ons, this example shows just under 55k miles on the odometer and is being offered for auction in excellent condition by it's seller in New York.
Finished in Silver Metallic, this 928 sports factory equipped protective side moldings and a distinctive satin black rear spoiler. Also equipped is an optional rear window wiper as well as OEM polished aluminum 16″ wheels which are wrapped in 3-year old Toyo Proxes tires. The seller states that this 928 is free of any paintwork with all panels appearing to be original. The exterior is nicely presented and in great overall condition as can be seen in the photos provided.
Inside, this 928 is appointed in a beautiful gray leather interior which remains in excellent condition with minimal wear. Factory options included on this originally $69,027 car consist of power-adjustable seats, an electric sunroof, rear air conditioning and a Blaupunkt Reno cassette radio. New dashboard lights and hatch struts were recently installed and the A/C system has been updated to use R134a refrigerant. While very well preserved, some flaws have been noted including a missing storage bin knob and a faulty illuminated “D” on the gear selector. All other accessories, electrical systems and interior components are reportedly intact and fully functional.
A hefty 5-liter V8 sends 316HP to the rear wheels by way of an automatic 4-speed transaxle with factory optioned limited slip differential. This 928 is offered in solid running condition with the following items having been replaced within the last 10k miles.
All filters and fluids have been routinely changed and flushed. Carfax indicates that this 928 is up-to-date on all due maintenance and was dealer serviced from 40k-44k miles. While this car is fully drivable, some seepage has been noted from the oil pan gasket and it is recommended that it is replaced along with the engine mounts at some point in the near future.
Included in the sale of this superb 928 is the original bill of sale, a dealer letter correspondence with original owner, two sets of keys, two wheel lock keys, one valet key, a sunroof crank, original owner’s manuals, a stamped service book and radio warranty paperwork. Also included are a clean Carfax report and clear New York title in the seller’s name. Such well-presented and complete examples of these cars are becoming increasingly rare, do not miss your chance to own this iconic 1980’s grand tourer.
