Porsche introduced the “S4” designation for the Porsche 928 in 1987, marking significant updates to the model. These changes included redesigned. internals in the V8 engine for increased power, along with updates to the fuel injection and ignition systems, larger brakes, and revised styling. Finished in the traditional shade of Guards Red over a tan interior, this launch-year example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado while showing approximately 120k miles on the odometer.
This S4 comes finished in Guards Red. Details include pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, a black-finished rear spoiler, side protection moldings, and factory 16” wheels. The seller notes a scratch on the passenger door, but the paint is reportedly in good condition and was recently polished. Additional images are provided in the gallery, along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features tan leather upholstery complemented by matching carpets and black floor mats. Cabin amenities comprise an electric sunroof, a factory Blaupunkt stereo, automatic climate control with rear vents, and power-adjustable front seats featuring memory function and lumbar support. The seller reports the leather upholstery is in good condition, devoid of tears, and all gauges and electronics are working properly.
Power is derived from a 5.0-liter 32-valve V8, delivering a factory-rated 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller reports an intermediate service was conducted in April 2023, which included the replacement of the crank position sensor and steering rack as well as a coolant flush and an air, oil, and filter change.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This Porsche has been a part of a local Northern Colorado collection alongside a Testarossa, 930, C4 Corvette, Lamborghini Countach, and Lotus Esprit Turbo. The owner is parting with this 928 to make room for another vintage sports car.”
