Up for auction is this tastefully modified 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo. Representing the first production turbocharged Porsche model, the 930 is characterized by its distinctive wide wheel-arches and iconic whale tale rear spoiler. This 1987 example showcases extensive performance upgrades and is now being offered for auction in excellent running condition by a seller in Ohio.
The sleek black finish on this 930 shows to be in great condition. A few flaws are noted including a minor clear-coat blemish in the roof and a missing seal on the sunroof. This 930 rides on 18” lightweight Fiske wheels with custom offsets for greatly improved steering geometry. These wheels are currently wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, however, it is suggested that they be replaced in the near future. Looking like no other 930 on the road, the exterior has been tastefully enhanced with the following custom modifications:
The interior of this Turbo also shows to be in great condition and features supportive Recaro seats as well as a 380mm Nardi steering wheel. Only a few minor interior flaws are noted including small cracks on the inner door pockets, a broken air-deflector pivot hinge, a missing heat lever, and some missing relays in the front fuse board. Minimal time and effort is required to bring this 930 back to its former glory. In order to save weight and boost this Turbo's performance ever further, the A/C system has been deleted along with the rear upper seats and rear sound pad. Additionally, RS rubber floor mats were installed.
Included in the sale will be a spare parts package that features an original numbers-matching 930 LSD transmission, stock seats, emissions equipment, bumpers, rear spoiler and many more original parts that are shown in the photo gallery.
This 930 carries a 3.3 L turbocharged flat six engine that has been outfitted with numerous performance upgrades. The previous owner estimates that given the extensive weight cutting measures, this 930 now weighs in at 400lbs less than stock. A partial service history is available and shows work done by notable shops such as TRE and TurboKraft. A recent full inspection by Steinels Autowerks is on hand and the compression and leak-down numbers show to be safe and consistent. The current owner addressed the immediate items on the inspection and serviced the car to the tune of $2500 in preparation for the driving season. Performance upgrades and modifications featured on this 930 consist of the following:
Although this 930 is offered in strong running order, the PPI has noted the following issues that may require some attention.
In addition to the spare parts package, the sale of this 930 will include some service records, two sets of keys and the original owner’s manual. This vehicle is accompanied by a clear title and stands ready to be delivered to its next owner.

also are the rear seat backs included?
do you have any images of the clearcoat blemish mentioned in the comments?
@dr07845 Yes it is a 4-speed with short ratio gearing. Shifts great although AFTER putting it into 3rd there is a momentary chatter, not synchros, that goes away as soon as you take your hand off the shifter/release forward pressure. Goes into gear just fine, not sure if it's a linkage adjustment issue, but the shift itself is perfect.
Is the replacement transmission period correct for the 930, and does it shift properly with no grinding?

@dr07845 You typed your bid in the comment field instead of placing an actual bid :)

@Didimaw There is not a buy-it-now price. High bid wins, if reserve is met.

Hi
I’m new to the auction. Is there a buy it now price?
Thanks Derek
@switchcars Thank you for the answer. If you can not add all receipts, can you at least add the few related to major work done on the car ?
And
Do you know if the car was actually used on racetracks ? I am wondering why the seats were switch to Recaro seats. Tks
Bid in the amount of $3,180
I listed all current issues from the PPI.
I did not upload service records as the file is extensive and it would have taken hours to redact all personal information from each file and upload each individual document. Suffice to say there are lots.
Inspections are fine, any weekday prior to close of the auction.
The immediate issues required to drive and enjoy the car were addressed by the previous owner. The engine itself does not have any issues, it has a healthy leakdown and compression and the car runs and drives well.
To clarify, only the RR fender and door were repainted, the rest of the car meters within factory specs, so "the car" was not repainted. That said I do not have receipts of when it was done, it may have been 20 years ago.
Hi
Can you add the PPI performed ?
Do you have maintenance receipts and can you add them ?
Looks like the engine has issues. Why didn’t you fix them prior selling ?
Do you accept inspection and which days are good to do so ?
How many owners on the car and what is the history of the car ?
When was the car repainted ? Do you have receipt of the job done ?
Tks
