This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is the subject of a custom RS-inspired restoration including a rebuilt flat-six engine with an upgraded 3.4-liter displacement, 964 cams, SSI heat exchangers, and a B&B stainless-steel muddler. It has been refinished in the classic Porsche color of Bali Blue and features a 5-speed G50 manual transmission, a Wevo shifter, RS-style door panels and carpets, 930 leather Sport Seats, 935-style mirrors, a ducktail spoiler, and polished 16” Fuchs wheels. Purchased by the current owner in 2019, this modified Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Florida.

This 911 was refinished in the historic 1960s Porsche color of Bali Blue (6412) circa 2008. It has been modified with a front chin spoiler, a ’74 fog light-delete front valence, 935-style aero side mirrors, an RS-style ducktail spoiler, RS-style Carrera side stripes, Euro-spec turn signals, Bosch headlights, and polished 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with new Toyo Extensa HP 2 tires. The exterior is described to be in good overall condition apart from some minor paint touch-ups and cosmetic imperfections.

The black interior has been modified with RS-style door panels and carpets, early 930 leather Sport Seats, a billet Wevo shifter, a wood-trimmed Nardi steering wheel, an Alpine speaker, Bose speakers, and a rear-mounted subwoofer in a custom enclosure. A Ravelco cutoff security system has also been installed. The seller notes minor blemishes on the headliner, dashboard, and rear parcel shelf.

The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine was rebuilt and upgraded to a 3.4-liter displacement in 2023 using a Mahle Motorsport 98mm piston kit with 10:1 compression. It also features 964 cams, SSI heat exchangers, and a B&B stainless-steel muffler. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle.

This sale will include a clean title.

I wanted to highlight a few minor exterior imperfections that may have been overlooked. One of them was a small dent on the driver’s side quarter panel near the door, which has now been professionally repaired by my trusted local dent specialist—it’s flawless now. Below, I’ve listed the remaining imperfections and uploaded photos to point them out. The touch-up paint spots are all 1/4 inch or smaller:

    - A small area on the cowl where the clear coat has worn off slightly.
    - A touch-up paint spot on the bottom lip of the ducktail. It's difficult to see due to where it's located
    - A touch-up paint spot on the rear bumper.
    - A bit of paint delamination around the rear side of the passenger quarter window. It’s subtle and doesn’t stand out unless you’re looking for it.

I hope this helps provide further transparency. Let me know if you need any more details!

I've received a lot of questions about the Ravelco Anti-Theft Device. In short, it functions as a cutoff switch—if it's not plugged in, the car won't start. To give you a better idea of how it works, I’ve put together this video demonstrating it in action.

@Brakelate1 I just submitted a drive video. It should be up shortly.

  • facundobustos 1 monthago

It is truly a pleasure to drive this car, it really has a soul, its features are fantastic, the color, not being a fan of blues, is very curious, in the sun you can perceive its color in magnitude, but when the sun goes down its tone tends to darken to the point of making you doubt.

The sound is incredible, the transmission changes are smooth, I hope this example goes to a home that loves it and takes care of it as much as its current owner.

He is not only a very good guy, but he is also passionate about 911s, I have not seen one in his hands that is not really special. Good luck to everyone in the bidding, surely everyone will win, the one who lets it go, and the one who gives it a new home.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 I just submitted three more videos. The first one was a bit over a year ago after installing the custom modified Steve Wong chip. The second one was from today. It is a cold start, a little revving from inside and out, and a shot of the gauges. The third video is from a few weeks ago when we photographed the car. It is two starts, and some revving. I should have a drive video up by tomorrow morning.

I think one of the best parts about this car is the 20 year history of online transactions/ info. I guess we're in an age when the majority of special cars will have an online past, for better or worse. This is a neat car and really caught my eye. It appears as though you were a thoughtful custodian of it and I'm sure it will pay off for ya. It's always better to buy something that was intended to be kept vs. a corners cut flip. GLWS!

  • Giorgio1967 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Nice Build ! I thought I remembered a picture of the original steering wheel & deck ?

  • Admin 1 monthago

    What's the best price?

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 Yup! I did not approve the draft listing before it went live. That transmission rebuild was missed and I ended up with a muddler. Lol!

I’ll be sharing a Google Sheet detailing all the service records included in the custom service binder (pics #238-240), covering the past 20 years.

The rebuild was done because the transmission was already out. I figured this would be a perfect time to have it freshened up. Again, I intended on keeping this car long-term and perhaps handing it down to my son, so I wanted to make sure that I addressed all that I could while the engine and transmission were down. A lot of parts were changed, not because they had to, but because I wanted to stay ahead of any potential issues.

As for the gear ratios, I believe they were kept stock, but I’ll check with the tech who did the work to confirm.

  • Brakelate1 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

You didn’t mention in your listing that you replaced the transmission, but it is on the receipts. Why was it done and did you change the gear ratios?

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Al_Cantara Here is a link to a listing of when the car was at Walt Grace Vintage. Circa 2017?
    https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1105082/1987-porsche-911-carrera-rs-for-sale-in-miami-florida-33127

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 I was the parts manager. I'm not a technician. I did not do any of the mechanical work.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 Due to a miscommunication, this listing went live sooner than expected, and I'm working to catch up. I've received several messages and am doing my best to respond promptly and address any questions.

In the meantime, I’m putting together a list of details that, if I were the buyer, I would have appreciated the seller disclosing. Nothing major, but I want the new owner to know exactly what they’re purchasing and what to expect upon receiving the car.

Here are a few things to note:
    - The driver's side exhaust tip is missing. I’m not sure what happened, but I noticed it was missing when I went to shoot the car. I've contacted Bill at B&B, he confirmed that the new owner can reach out to him to purchase a replacement, which will take about six weeks.
    - The headliner has a couple of small tears.
    - The dashboard has a crack repair. It’s a bit hard to see in most pictures, but pic #367 clearly shows it.
    - I removed the rearview mirror for more visibility. The original mirror is included in the sale.
    - The sunroof wind flap is detached but will be included in the sale. Pic #204 & 205
    - The driver's seat left-hand bolster has some wear along the piping. See pic #152 & #153 for reference.

I’ll take some detailed shots of minor nicks and touch-up spots. I’ll continue updating the listing with any additional details and photos to ensure full transparency. Thank you all for your interest, questions, feedback, and comments.

@dukeferris LOL! And here is your chance. Haha!

I came across this 15-year-old video. This was before the 3.4L upgrade and the custom Steve Wong chip designed specifically for this setup. 1987 - 911 - 3.4L - w/ 964 Cams, SSI & stainless steel exhaust. I’ll be uploading some recent videos with the current setup in the next day or two.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@1974Bronco @Cozad1955 @Brakelate1 - I've just posted some more service receipts, including most of the work that I had done under my ownership. FULL DISCLOSURE - I was working at Vertex at the time. These prices are set to retail. I received a discount on both the parts and labor.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 Forgot to add - The engine and transmission have about 5,000 miles on them since the rebuild. I did it with the intention of keeping this car for as long as I could. Unfortunately, that time has come a lot sooner than I hoped for. I don't have a recent compression and leak-down test but will be happy to bring the car over to your preferred shop in South Florida for a PPI.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 monthago

@Brakelate1 The engine and transmission rebuild were completed at the end of 2022 by Vertex Auto in Miami, FL. I’ll be posting all service receipts from my ownership later today, including those for the rebuild.

  • vl5150 1 monthago

If you're new to these cars, the factory AC is very heavy, complex, and doesn't work well. It also introduces unwanted heat directly into the airstream needed to cool the engine raising head temps. Tint the all glass with a 3m or xpel and it will work wonders and I'm in S. FL too. The tint doesn't even have to be dark to work. A good call on a hot rod to leave it off and leave it the thoroughbred it is.

@chuckent Oh, growing up in Miami, you get used to the heat. I was recommended the Electrocooler electric A/C system from Classic Retrofit. That could be a great option for someone who must have A/C.

  • chuckent (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

AC is a must in the south for sure. Having said that, deletion of the original AC system already is not such a bad thing. Installing one of the updated new systems will yield much better results than having to tear out the old system yourself and replace piecemeal

  • Aisance (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@risip350 No A/C at all. Completely "Air Cooled" ;)
Most of the entire A/C system has been deleted. The fresh air blower does work.

  • Aisance (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@AdamoPitaliano Thanks! The subwoofer is a custom build—I’ve never seen an off-the-shelf option for it. Honestly, it wasn’t my idea; the entire audio system was already installed when I bought the car. At first, it felt a bit at odds with the lightweight setup, but I ended up loving it. The sound quality is incredible, and the Bluetooth convenience is a big plus. I noticed PcarMarket listed the speakers as Bose, but I believe they’re actually JBL. I’ll double-check and confirm ASAP.

Unfortunately, due to a medical setback last year, I have to part with this incredible 911. I’ve had the privilege of being around Porsches for over 30 years—owning several and driving dozens of classic 911s. I’ve particularly enjoyed owning and driving this one the most. It’s an absolute riot on the road and easily the most fun air-cooled 911 I’ve had. This build takes the driving experience to another level, making it far more engaging than a stock G50 Carrera.

One of the things I love about this build is the approach taken with its modifications—favoring original Porsche classic parts over aftermarket alternatives, and in some cases, even using rare, high-cost original components. The result is a car that stays true to its heritage while delivering a driving experience that’s even more dynamic.

With its 3.4L engine upgrade, 964 cams, performance chip, stainless steel exhaust system, Wevo shifter, and extensive weight reduction, this 911 is quick, responsive, and just a blast to drive. The extra power and lighter weight give it a sharp, connected feel, providing a driving experience that’s both exhilarating and full of character.

A few other things I’ve really enjoyed about this car:
-The sound system is fantastic! While I love the sound of the engine, having the option to play music loud and crisp is a great bonus. The custom subwoofer, built into the rear seat, can be easily removed if you prefer to keep both rear seats open.
-The pull-out plug kill switch is a simple but highly effective security feature that I’m surprised more classic Porsche owners don’t use.
-Additionally, the alarm system has a clever built-in function that prevents the car from starting when activated without setting off the alarm itself. The car also retains its central locking system, allowing you to lock and unlock the doors manually or through the alarm system.

Feel free to reach out with any questions or requests. I’ll also be actively adding additional pictures, videos, and service documents throughout the next few days of the auction.
