BMW’s original M-tuned 6-Series, the M635CSi was offered in the U.S. market as the M6 and features a 3.5-liter S38B35 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, front and rear spoilers, BBS wheels, and upgraded brakes and suspension compared to a standard E24 model. This 1987 example is one of 1,767 cars imported to North America between 1983 and 1989. It came factory-finished in Cinnabar Red over Pearl Beige leather upholstery and equipped with power-adjustable seats, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, a three-spoke M-Tech I steering wheel, and an onboard computer. Kept in a climate-controlled facility by its current owner for the last 10 years, this first-generation M6 is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut with just under 100k miles showing on the odometer.
The E24 features iconic bodywork designed by Paul Bracq and the M6 model is distinguished by a front air dam and rear trunk lid spoiler. This example is finished in Cinnabar Red and rides on metric 415mm BBS basketweave alloy wheels with Michelin TRX tires. Equipment includes bright trim, body side moldings, quad headlamps, integrated fog lights, an M6 grille badge, an electric sunroof, a power antenna, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, and dual center-mounted tailpipes. The seller notes minor chips on the driver-side fender that have been painted over and a scratch on the passenger-side trunk lid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing an accident in 2000.
The 2+2 interior features Pearl Beige leather upholstery with matching carpets and a contrasting brown leather dashboard. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, a black leather M-Tech I steering wheel, an M-branded tachometer, power windows, air conditioning, an onboard computer, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller indicates some cracking on the driver’s seat bolster and leather shift boot along with wear on the front passenger seat.
Equipped with Bosch Motronic fuel injection, dual overhead camshafts, and six individual throttle bodies, the 3.5-liter S38B35 inline-six engine delivers up to 256 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The M6 features larger ventilated disc brakes than a standard E24 as well as a revised sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height. The seller notes extensive service documentation is available from previous ownership.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, manufacturer’s literature, vintage magazines, a BMW-branded watch, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting our auction! This car has been with its current owner for about 10 years and has been stored inside in a climate-controlled facility. It has been prepped by Black Horse Garage and ready to be enjoyed!”

Dude, you sure that's Cinnebar and not Hellrot Red?
I had a 320i that was Cinnibar and I remember it was just a shade darker.
Nonetheless, awesome car. I think I'll bid!

Welcome to the auction on this 1987 BMW M6 and thank you to all that have made bids and left questions. Please let us know if there are any additional things we can help out with!
@icantaffordthis Thank you for checking out our auction. Older cars have different rules in different states and unfortunately we do not know the environmental laws for California and any possible changes that would need to be made, but this is a really good car and has fit the Connecticut laws.
