Marking the inaugural model year for the Porsche 944 Turbo, this 1986 example was purchased new in Michigan and gifted to the original owner by his wife as a 40th birthday present. The car came finished in Alpine White over a Light Grey partial leather interior and features optional color-matched alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential, and a sunroof. It remained under the original owner's care before being acquired by the current owner, a friend, in October of 2021. The car has since been treated to extensive refurbishment and preventative maintenance including a new timing belt, water pump, turbo diverter valve, and more. Currently residing in Naples, Florida, this well-preserved 944 Turbo is being offered for auction with approximately 106k miles on the odometer.
This 951 comes finished in Alpine White (L90E) and features optional body side moldings, a removable sunroof panel, and 16” alloy Fuchs wheels with matching painted centers. All optional equipment is listed on the original bill of sale. The car has been recently refurbished with over $1k invested in professional detailing along with a set of new Continental Extreme Contact tires. Some imperfections are noted including a slight dimple on the hood. The front bumper cover was replaced following a minor incident in October of 1996 and a corresponding repair invoice is available along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Light Grey (LQ) partial leather interior includes an optional four-spoke steering wheel and cruise control as well as an upgraded Sony radio. Other features include power windows, electrically adjustable seats, a digital clock, and air conditioning.
The turbocharged 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine produces as much as 220 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with an optional limited-slip differential. A replacement engine was installed in July of 1995 at a cost of over $8k following the failure of the original engine due to road hazard and subsequent loss of oil. All maintenance records are said to be available dating back to the original purchase and the seller has recently completed a service including a new timing belt, balance shaft belt, accessory belts, idlers, tensioners, a new water pump, thermostat, and turbocharger diverter valve. An oil leak was also recently diagnosed and repaired at the turbocharger oil inlet. Corresponding invoices are provided for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include a set of two keys, the original owner's manuals, warranty books, a new air compressor, a sunroof storage bag, service records, and a clean title.

@mkanenaples Sorry it took me so long to respond. Was on a Zoom call. I'll pay much closer attention to the questions box as close-of-auction time approaches. thx
@mathfuzzy The replacement motor was put in in July 1995. The car had 89,164 miles on it. The previous owner told me that the replacement motor had fewer miles on it, but I cannot verify the exact miles it had on it in the slug of maintenance records I have. The fellow that did it is now retired, but was pretty well known in the SE MI area for being sharp Porsche technician. The fellow down here in Naples who did the most recent work tells me it is an appropriate engine for the car, backing up what the previous owner shared with me.
Whomever buys the car will get a three-ring binder with all maintenance records in it. Thanks for the good question.
Hi - sorry if I missed it. Any idea at what mileage the motor was replaced and any details on the replacement motor?

@mkanenaples Many thanks to the PCarMarket folks for posting this video.
@Thin I do not have the original stereo. The Sony replacement unit has a remote control unit that has never been out of the bag it came in. Thank you.....
Do you have original stereo?

I recently viewed and drove this car personally. Pictures don’t do this car justice, it’s exceptional. If I had the garage space it would be mine right now.
I will have cold start and driving videos posted by Saturday evening.
