Built from 1971 through 1987, the Rolls-Royce Corniche I takes its name from the famed Grand Corniche roads along the French Côte d’Azur. Powered by a 6.75-liter V8 engine mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, this 1985 example is one of just 3,239 Corniche convertibles produced. It is finished in white over red Connolly leather and features a tan soft top with a matching tonneau cover, 15” steel wheels with painted and pinstriped hubcaps, automatic climate control, power-operated amenities, and more. Showing just over 39k miles on the odometer, this Corniche is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.
This example is finished in white and equipped with a tan soft top and matching tonneau cover. Exterior details include body-color bumpers and mirrors, chrome door handles, and bright trim outlining the wheel arches and running along the body sides. It rides on 15” steel wheels fitted with model-specific hubcaps that have been repainted and pinstriped to match the body. The wheels are wrapped in Cooper Trendsetter SE tires with approximately 200 miles of use and 2019 date codes. The seller reports that the bodywork and brightwork are in excellent condition, free of dents or scratches. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The handcrafted interior is finished in red Connolly leather with matching piping and red carpeting, complemented by polished wood trim across the dashboard, door panels, and seatbacks. Amenities include a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, a combination of analog and digital instrumentation, power windows and door locks, an audio system, and a lockable storage compartment housing a factory-fitted flask and shot glasses. The seller reports the dashboard is free of cracks, and all original switches and controls remain functional with no warning lights present.
Power comes from a hand-built 6.75-liter L410I V8 engine with an aluminum alloy block and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, which delivers a factory-rated 237 HP to the rear wheels through a GM-sourced 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. It is equipped with a fully independent suspension, including a Citroën-derived hydraulic self-leveling system at the rear axle, as well as four-wheel disc brakes.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a brochure, a convertible boot, an interior liquor flask with accompanying shot glasses, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction! This is a beautiful car that performs excellently on the road and attracts a lot of attention. All maintenance is up to date, and it runs and drives very well. It is a great example of original paint, interior, and glass. Plus, it has only had two owners and has been climate-controlled its entire life, which is evident in its condition. The convertible top is in excellent shape and functions perfectly. The interior is bright and inviting, and the white over red color combination is stunning for this car. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. There is also a recent service bill for over $5,000, so it’s ready to drop the top and hit the road. Good luck bidding!”
