Available for auction is an original painting by Lance Grootboom of Lance Artworx featuring the 1985 Porsche 962C. This original fine art painting is 100% hand-painted with acrylic paint on 39.37" x 27.55" Canvas. The seller states the painting will include a Certificate of Authenticity and will be shipped to the buyer unframed in a solid, custom-made, heavy-duty postal tube.
The 1985 Porsche 962C | Chassis 962-002. This factory “Werks” car is one the most historically significant Porsche racing cars of all time. It is the second 962 constructed by the factory and competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship for three years as part of Rothmans Porsche factory “Werks” team. In the ten-race 1985 championship series chassis 002, driven by Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass, won three times: Mugello 1000km, Silverstone 1000km, and the Selangor 800km. The painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and will be shipped to the buyer un-framed, in a solid, heavy-duty postal tube.
"As an artist, it is my utmost privilege to have the insight, talent, and skills to create the type of artwork that affects inspires, and moves. Like most artists, I started drawing at a very young age. I grew up in the northern suburbs of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. My home town is known for its wind, beaches, and Victorian landmarks, and its friendly residents have earned the moniker, “The Friendly City”. Unfortunately, formal art education was prohibitively expensive where I grew up and as a result, my path to becoming a professional artist was by necessity self-taught. Crayons and crude pencils were traded for industry-standard graphite and pastels and premium-grade acrylics eventually supplanted those on canvas. As my skills matured and my technique became more precise, my art and my passion for cars converged, with this union ultimately becoming my profession. I combine passion, attention to detail, high-quality modern materials and techniques ranging from classical to cutting edge, and experimental to create one-of-a-kind pieces unique to the vision of each commission. While I have a penchant for greats like Claus Luthe, designer of the BMW E30, and Ferdinand Porsche, my design palette is broad and eclectic, with an appreciation for the classics and admiration for the modern aesthetic."
