The new 911 Carrera was introduced in 1984 and came equipped with a larger 3.2-liter engine as well as revised bodywork, brakes, electronics, and suspension technology. This inaugural-year example comes finished in Ruby Red Metallic over a Burgundy full leather interior and features an optional limited-slip differential and desirable Sport Seats. Reported to have been ordered through Porsche's Tourist Delivery Program, the car is said to have spent several years in Europe before being imported to a family member in New York. Later sold to a resident of Georgia, it was acquired by the selling dealer and is now being offered for auction with approximately 28k miles on the odometer.
This Carrera is finished in Ruby Red Metallic and features a front spoiler and an aftermarket "whale tail" rear spoiler. Details include impact bumpers, fog lights, black stone guards on the rear fenders, and a single exhaust outlet. It rides on factory 16” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires from 2018. The seller notes minor blemishes on the right side and paintwork on the hood and rear decklid for cosmetic purposes. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered in Burgundy full leather and equips factory-optioned Sport Seats. Accessories include cruise control, air conditioning, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and an aftermarket Alpine radio. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly. Minor wear is noted on the driver's seat bolster.
This Carrera is equipped with a 3.2-liter M930/21 flat-six that was factory-rated 207HP and 192 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. It features an upgraded Flowmaster exhaust system and the seller notes that the OEM exhaust and catalytic converter accompany the sale. No outstanding maintenance items are reported at this time.
This sale will include a clean title and spare tire.

@tff...thanks for the question. The paintwork on the hood was for some minor rock chips. It was only hood that was painted up front. In the rear, the deck lid change to the tail required painting. there is a blend to both left and right quarter panels. The work was completed by one of the premier paint shops in metro Atlanta.
I just looked up the option code list as well. Here are my findings:
1. C02- US Standard Emissions
2. E17- Not Found
3. 220- Locking differential 40%
4. 395- 16" Fuchs forges alloy wheels front 6" with 205/55, rear 7: with 225/50 Tyres
5. 409- Leather Sport Seats
6. 469- Black Roof liner
7. 900- Export the car with Catalytic Converter
@Matthew_VA..thanks for the assist!
I also just reviewed the most recent service history, here is a summary of the repairs completed in 2020
1. Replace Drive Belts
2. Brake Flush
3. Replace Motor Mounts
4. Repair Clock and Radio
5. Repair Sunroof Gasket
6. Replace Rear Brakes ( Pads and Rotors) 26,972 miles on the vehicle
7. Replace the Clutch, Flywheel, Rear Main Seal
8. Reseal all Valve Covers
9. Valve Adjustment
10. Replace all oil lines and hoses as needed
11. Replace Spark Plugs
12. Fuel Filter Replaced
13. Fuel Induction Cleaning
14. 4 Wheel Alignment
15. A/C System Converted to R134
@tff the E17 options code is a group option--several options bundled together. I believe it is tied to the dealership that ordered it so almost impossible to figure out what all is exactly included.
Can't speak to the full suspension but those shocks are the green Bilstein and were an factory option (option "474" - Sport Shock Absorbers).
Thank you! No tears shed for the old piston compressor- inefficient, used a lot of power, noisy and shaky as well.
Trying to decode the sticker's options list. Was successful deciphering everything, except for the 'E17'. Can anyone comment on what that is for? Thanks.
Can the seller describe the paint work done on the hood and rear deck lid? Just scratch repair or were the whole panels repainted, or ?
Also, can you verify that the suspension is OEM (I don't recognize green shocks as OEM, but I'm not sure)?
Thank you! Very keen to hear it.
@jimbo1907 this is the correct compressor, introduced on the '84 3.2 platform, thankfully retiring the old york.
@jimbo1907... what a great question. I will ask our Porsche technician to assist me in getting you an answer on this. Should get the answer in the morning for you.
Bid in the amount of $28,500
Question for the knowledgeable: this car seems to have a rotary AC compressor, not the York piston type compressor I've seen on other Carreras. Is this an update to this particular car, or did they all have rotary AC compressors by 1984? Thank you.

@PCarMarket... we are uploading some additional photos taken this morning of the underside of the Porsche. We did have the car "Dry Ice" blasted in preparation for the upcoming sale.
We also will be posting the records we have for the car dating back to 2011- 2022.
Also accompanying the car upon sale, a set of Porsche Floor Mats (Burgundy Color), the original Exhaust System, Car Cover, and the Original Radio.
Bid in the amount of $20,000
@Matthew_VA... thanks for the comments and "spoiler" clarification!
As a former owner of an ‘83 SC in ruby red metallic, I agree with @ponyup, it’s a great color and really pops in the sun. @tff, I don’t believe Porsche has changed the color over the years but you have to remember the paint on this car is 40 years old (if original) so it’s not going to be like factory new.
One slight correction should be noted, the spoiler is not a whale tail, it’s a tea tray tail/spoiler.

@tff.. my thought on your comment is the color is reflective to the lines on the car. You would see different tones in the color based on the overall design of the car. I would say its a great color and on this particular car, with the interior being burgundy it really stands out!
@area901.. Unfortunately, we do not have the stock engine cover for the car.
Beautiful car. Curious... did Porsche change its Ruby Red exterior color over the years? I've seen newer 911s in this color, but they seem to be brighter, redder than these photos? Is it perhaps the photos or was there actually a change to the color?
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Is the stock engine cover included as well?
Very nice early (SC wheel) low mi 3.2 Carrera with too much tail
