Up for auction is this well-cared for and nicely presented 1984 Euro-spec Carrera Cabriolet.  Making its debut in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 represents the last iteration in the original 911 series as well as an all-time sports car icon.  This 1984 cabriolet was purchased new from Autohaus Jacob Fleischhauer in Germany by an attorney from Beverly Hills.  After being imported and federalized, this 911 was driven around Los Angeles by its original owner up until August of this year.  Now showing just 74k original miles on the odometer, this 911 is being offered for auction in turn-key condition by the seller in Portland Oregon.

This cabriolet has been garage-kept and maintained by its original owner up until earlier this year.  Having been finished from the factory in Grand Prix White, this Cabriolet has since been fully refinished in a brilliant Silver.  The owner states that the car had been repainted approximately 10 years ago to fix some scratches.  While the wheel wells, trunk and engine bay remain factory White, this respray shows to be in excellent condition.  The seller states that all panel gaps look uniform and correct.  As a German delivery vehicle, this 911 sports Euro-spec components including small rear bumper guards, Euro taillight lenses and side marker lights.  A brand new GAHH convertible top has just been professionally installed and comes with a Tonneau cover.  The original Fuchs wheels look to be fully intact, still retaining their original anodizing.  Always properly maintained and lovingly cared for, this car is a true survivor.

Inside, this 911 is appointed with a black interior that has been preserved in excellent overall condition.  The interior is free of any noteworthy flaws however the seller states that the carpets appear to have been replaced and that the leather front seats were most likely reupholstered at some point.  Factory options for this cabriolet include an alarm, a Blaupunkt stereo, heated and tinted windscreen and security wheel locks.  The radio has since been updated with a modern head unit and the original lugs/wheel locks have been removed, however, both the original radio and wheel hardware will be included in sale.  All accessories, gauges and electrical components are reportedly fully functional.

As a Euro-spec car, this Carrera 3.2 boasts higher power and compression over its U.S. destined counterparts.  The rear wheels are driven by a throaty 3.2L naturally aspirated flat-six engine that is mated to a crisp 5-speed manual transmission.  Records indicate that the transmission was fully rebuilt in 1990 at 54,887 miles.  At this time the clutch was also replaced, and the flywheel was resurfaced.  The original 3.2L engine starts right up, makes great power and sounds excellent without smoke or significant leaks, according to the seller.  Upon import and federalization, this car was fitted with a factory catalytic converter and had reportedly passed CA emissions up until about 10 years ago. Additionally, the car currently meets the requirements for Oregon where it now resides.

Included in the sale of this 1984 cabriolet will be extensive documentation including import documents, American market owner's manual, original German owner's manual stamped with the original dealer info, owner's manual cover, tourist delivery info, Blaupunkt radio manual, sales documents including copy of original cashier's check and of course, repair receipts with clear documentation of mileage.  Also included will be a clean title and Carfax report citing an accident free and well-maintained life on the road.  With such a well-documented history and low original miles, this 911 would make the perfect addition to any garage. Do not miss out on this truly solid, drivers-grade 1984 cabriolet.

@Jb423 good point I've also heard air conditioning in 911 didn't work very well until at least the 90s. Regarding the east coast you could take a vacation and drive it back or have it shipped, you can get a competitive quote at uship.com

@DaveHanning Looks like I replied to myself. Thank you for getting back. I am on the East Coast so that is another obstacle for me. A/C isn’t a big deal. I had a few and the ac barely worked anyway.

@Jb423 no this car does not have air conditioning. Speaking of that this 84 Carrera was directly imported from Germany when new and has higher compression and horsepower than US versions. No Ac, non-electric seats and smaller rear bumper guards (saves 5 lbs) and this car is a little lighter than most US 84 Carreras. The power and throttle response is great.

Does she have A/C? If so, does it work properly?

@smsarchitects It is rare for a post 1976, 911 to have rust, they have fully galvanized bodies and extensive undercoating. So saying "typical rust issues" that doesn't really apply to these later cars, especially if they were never driven on salted roads. This car was in Southern California from 1984 until about 1999 and in Oregon the last 10 years (driven about 5000 miles in the last ten years on nice days) and always garaged, it is totally rust free. I will take some pictures today and upload them.

beautiful car. can we see some photos of the undercarriage? in particular the typical rust areas on these cars? thank you.

Lots of routine maintenance and a few small repairs, a window switch for example. The only major repair was a transmission rebuild in 1990 when car had 54,887 miles (Less than 20,000 miles ago) and that was mostly to replace the first and second gear syncros. At the same time the flywheel was resurfaced and a new clutch was added. The transmission feels and shifts excellent.

Hi seller, can you give some more details on what kind of repair records come with the car?
