Using technology proven by Porsche’s racing cars and the legendary 911 Turbo, a high-performance version of the entry-level 924 model was introduced in 1979, featuring a turbocharged engine, stiffened suspension, functional styling, and four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. Representing the final year of Turbo production for the U.S. market, this 1982 example comes finished in blue over black partial leather upholstery. It equips a sunroof, a rear window wiper, 15” ATS wheels, and much more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.

The 924 Turbo can be distinguished from the standard model by its functional NACA-ducted hood, air intakes in the nose, a black polyurethane rear spoiler, and vertical slits on the front apron, which provide fresh air to the brakes and oil cooler. Factory specified in Diamond Silver Metallic (Z4), this example was refinished in blue after a vandalism report in 1996 under the previous ownership, as shown on the CARFAX report. Paint imperfections are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery. Additionally, the driver’s side mirror was replaced in August 2024, the front spoiler is missing, and the car rides on 15” ATS 5-lug "basketweave" wheels wrapped in Falken tires from 2019.

As a Turbo model, this 924 includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever and a carpeted center console. This particular example features black partial leather upholstery, a sunroof, a rear window wiper, and an electric antenna. The carpets were refreshed in March 2024, with the center console and headliner replaced in April 2024. The rear seats have been upgraded with new-old-stock components, and the rear sound absorber panel, rear side panels, side window rubber, and rear hatch insulation have also been replaced. The previous owner removed the air conditioning system. Currently, the clock is inoperable, the radio has been removed, and although the instrument cluster was repaired under previous ownership, the oil pressure gauge still requires adjustment. The sunroof interior panel and driver's sun visor need repair or replacement, and the interior dome light is non-functional, possibly due to a fuse issue. The seat belt covers are missing, and the rear windshield and rear window defrost are non-functional, likely due to fuse problems. Additionally, the front windshield washer spray nozzle requires replacement, and the rear lid sealing ring is missing.

The 924 Turbo uses the same Audi-sourced VW EA831 2.0-liter I4 engine as the standard 924 but redesigned with an all-new cylinder head assembled in Stuttgart as well as a K26 turbocharger producing 10psi of boost. Up to 150 HP and 155 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transaxle. The 924 Turbo came standard with an upgraded dual-circuit brake system with ventilated discs at each corner and a stiffened suspension including anti-roll bars front and rear. A host of service records dating back to 1996 will accompany the sale, and the seller reports an oil leak from the oil filter side cover area, and the cooling hoses require replacement along with both front struts and mounts. The following service items were performed since their acquisition in 2024:

  • Timing belt replaced 1/24
  • New water pump installed 1/24
  • Coolant drained and replaced - Pink G40
  • Melted expansion tank and lid replaced with NOS
  • Oil Change 20w|50 2/24
  • Oil Filter replaced
  • Banjo bolt washers replaced
  • Cam cover gasket replaced
  • Radiator Fan Switch replaced 2/24
  • Carbon Canister replaced 2/24
  • New vacuum hose lines
  • Air filter cartridge replaced 1/24
  • Engine Breather hose replaced
  • Housing straps replaced
  • Vacuum lines replaced 7/24

This sale will include the manufacturer’s literature, including PCNA PPS, service manuals, service records, a Period Dealer Brochure, a PET Manual, a Haynes repair manual, a rattle can paint match, and a rebuilt title. As shown in the CARFAX report, the rebuilt title was issued after a 1996 vandalism report during the previous ownership.

The seller would like you to know: “PCA Member and Porsche Enthusiast owner, passing on my 924 Turbo (931). This example is a mechanically correct, running and driving vehicle with service records since 1996. I acquired this 1982 Porsche 924 Turbo in January 2024. It is finished in a blue, non-Porsche color under the previous ownership. The original color is (Z4) Diamond Silver Metallic. The original 3-spoke steering wheel frames a repaired instrument cluster comprised of an 85-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer with a 6,600-rpm redline and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer has been repaired under current ownership and shows 95,348 miles, approximately <100 of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown."
