Available for auction is this 1982 Porsche 911SC finished in Chiffon White over a beige and brown partial leather interior. This example was completed on October 17, 1981, and was originally sold by Heishman Porsche of Arlington, Virginia. The car remained under the care of its original owner until 2016. It came factory equipped with an electric sunroof, air conditioning, and an AM/FM Blaupunkt Bamberg cassette stereo. Over the last several years regular maintenance has been performed and documented, and in 2022 it was awarded second place at Werks Reunion Amelia Island followed by first place at Virginia's Festival of the Wheel and Pennsylvania’s Deutsche Classic. Accompanied by extensive documentation including a Porsche Production Specification Certificate and the original window sticker, this 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia while showing just over 39k miles on its odometer.

This coupe is finished in Chiffon White (P2) and features color-keyed mirrors and black U.S.-spec rear bumperettes. In 2019, the car underwent a concours detail preparation by Excalibur of Colorado and is said to remain in very good overall condition aside from a few minor flaws including a ding that has been refinished. The seller has provided a collection of detailed images, which can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report and paint meter readings.  It rides on a set of 16” Fuchs wheels which come dressed in a set of Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires which are said to have been installed in 2019. A set of original cookie-cutter wheels are included as well.

The cabin is upholstered in Beige partial leather with a chocolate brown dashboard and upper panels. Beige carpets line the floors and are protected by a set of calico Coco mats. Amenities include air conditioning, a Blaupunkt Bamberg AM/FM cassette stereo, power windows and mirrors, and an electric sunroof. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.

Power comes from an M930/16 air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Meticulous service has been performed over the last several years, beginning in 2018 the shift plate was resealed, and new heat exchangers were installed along with oil return tubes, and brake light switches. In 2019, all major bushings including the rear spring plate bushings were replaced with genuine Porsche parts, along with the brake lines, shocks, and struts (Bilstein B6). In 2020, the Bosch CDI was rebuilt by AshlockTech and the spark plugs and wires were replaced along with the fuel pump, accumulator, and transmission fluid. Bi-annual oil and filter services have been performed since 2019, with oil samples being sent out to Blackstone labs for analysis. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the gallery as well as several service records.

This sale will include an original tool kit and medical kit, a collection of service records, owner’s literature, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, the original cookie-cutter wheels, and a clean title.

    Also the head studs.

I have a 1979 SC. I replaced both the chain tensioner and the head studs. Both are notorious to fail in the SCs and lead to high engine repair bills.

Interestingly, I also own an early 1984 Carrera which was discovered to retain the head studs found in the SCs. It turned out that Porsche continued to use these same head studs well into the Carreras. Porsche notoriously do not waste money and would use up leftover parts before switching if at all possible

  • ronwangu (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Not sure if this was addressed during the active auction phase, but has the chain tensioner been replaced?

    @Burgsailor Thank you!!!

  • Burgsailor (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@SilverSled yes. The sticker is original. I never thought to remove it so don’t know what process would be best. And yes the “ping” sound can be heard with every door close.

  • SilverSled (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Hi, beautiful car! I’m wondering if the unleaded fuel sticker is original, or can be removed easily without damaging the paint? Also, I assume the doors close with a solid ping?

Only a very small percentage of cars fall in this condition level, and can compete at a national concours level. Yes they made a lot of SCs but finding them in this condition checking all the boxes is not easy. Good luck seller car deserves the money

  • Burgsailor (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Thank you PCarMKT and enthusiast. This was a great auction experience. Consistent with my opening comments - I enjoyed the many dialogues/exchanges I have had with all the interested parties; reason #1 on why I love this hobby/pastime. Grateful to the followers of the auction for their inputs, comments, and questions. AND - respect and appreciation for the bidders in seeing the significance in this expectational Air Cooled Porsche.

  • Folcat33 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@Lexday47 I agree. I own an 82. 68k orig miles. Bought for 75 on bat in April 21. I felt that I got mine near height of market. (Gulp) but it’s incredibly beautiful. I felt 83 shoulda taken it

  • Lexday47 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

I know the passion of owning a car that I am emotionally attached to but I don’t offer them for sale, I think the bidders who pushed over 80K were really making substantial offers for a really nice car but not sure the seller is really ready,no disrespect intended.

@AriBsa Thank you! Just never done the auction stuff before and a bit hesitant. Thats the info I'm looking for.

  • AriBsa (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@IX_XII_Lvr This auction house only makes 5% with a $5k max to buyer and nothing to the seller beyond the $99 auction fee. Traditional auctions charge both buyer and seller 10+%. Not sure you can get any more reasonable.
Regarding the format…other than a few kooks, I find the interaction and feedback from the educated participants very helpful. I can go on but you get the idea.

  • IX_XII_Lvr 1 year, 9 monthsago

I hope this does not offend anyone. I really love this car and would absolutely love to be an aggressive bidder on it. However, possibly due to my former career, I'm a bit cynical and just not sold on these auctions with the CC holds. Perhaps it is only me and I am 100% in the wrong, but I'd rather see the seller get more for a great car, than hope for a great deal and have to pay an auction house. Again, I'm new to the vintage Porsche 911 scene (as a lifelong Chevy Camaro and Corvette guy) and just hoping your comments can sway my opinion and cancel any doubts I may have. Thanks in advance. And to Burgsailor.... anyway you slice it, this thing is absolutely gorgeous.

@rhmoritz This car is 100% original (as it left the showroom in 1981) to include, original engine and transmission. Engine/Train numbers match the Porsche Certificate (see pics). Yes - it also has the original cam chain tensioners and clutch. Car is registered in VA. The CA plate registration is expired. I wear the CA black plate at shows because of the 'message.' :).

Appears to be a very well looked after SC. Are the motor and trans original to the car? Original cam chain tensioners and clutch? Note CA plates still on the car. Is the registration current?
    Thank you.

@IX_XII_Lvr -- Thank you! Yes. All original equipment is still in tact. That includes the OEM catalytic converter. Pic of the CC will be added. Note - this 911 came to me tag'd and registered in CA.

  • IX_XII_Lvr 1 year, 9 monthsago

Absolutely beautiful 911! Being a California buyer, I must ask. Is the car equipped with a catalytic converter? This screwball state I live in makes it incredibly hard to find vintage beauties like this. Thanks much.

@techweenie thank you Bill - “navigate” indeed! And what a splendid and valuable service you provide! I am looking forward to the next venture!!

  • techweenie (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

I helped this owner navigate the rough waters of the used 911 market until he was able to locate this gem and have an expert pre-purchase assessment done. Really all it needed was some paint correction and his meticulous attention to the details.
The color combination is probably the best available for a 911SC.

@polar911 Thank you Polar. No dry ice...ever. It was detailed (parade level) by Excalibur in Colorado (see receipt). However, that effort included only use and application of traditional cleaners, polish, and wax. And that was done ~4 years ago! Car has been driven less than 1K since - and most of that driving has been from trailer to field and field to trailer :).

  • polar911 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

    Gorgeous!!!!
    Who dry ice cleaned it?

I know this car and the obsessive owner. Cannot tell you how much he labored over his quest to find this car. Whatever he has posted, you can rest assured it is understated. The ‘chip’ he disclosed? If it was 1mm I’d be shocked, but the touch up was obsessed over, done professionally and now undetectable. It was the only flaw on this amazingly preserved car. It is absolutely a Parade-winning car ad it sits. Kudos to the original owner and present owner for their care of this SC.

@GHM73 Thank you. I agree with color combo (and that's not owner bias- it's what coordinations combo I wanted when I started the search years ago). I like your adjective...the Chiffon is "Class" in demeanor.

  • GHM73 1 year, 9 monthsago

I have the same car, with some small modifications (and more miles and natural patina). Will be interesting to see how this goes. Color combo is pure class and this "tri-tone" interior with the brown headliner looks SO good. I have the same Coco mats as well. GLWS!

@RoadrunnerLady No. With 39K, replacement of fuel filter on a regular basis, clean gas and new fuel accumulator there is no current need to replace fuel lines.

  • Burgsailor (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@Lexday47 100% original paint. There is a touch up spot that was addressed and I captured it with the meter and receipt (see photo). Occurred ironically when the car was first shipped to me by a careless driver removing the dust plastic :(.

  • Lexday47 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

is this the original paint, it looks great

Hello Car Aficionados – seller here. Selling my 911 after ~4 years of having the privilege of being her caretaker. It was my first Porsche having spent decades heavy in the GM collector’s world – and what a pleasure this ownership has been. Not only has the car impressed me at every turn (literally and figuratively), but I’ve meet some really passionate people along the way. This car is a no story, no excuses car and hopefully that’s what this auction communicates. I still correspond with the original owners and have shared some of the car’s updates and the like. I spent ~30 years in the USN and this purchase was my “retirement” reward and I spent about a year looking high and low for the “right” car (thank you for your help Bill). My reason for selling is two-fold: This car is simply too nice to just drive whenever and wherever I want…..I’m now seeking a car I can drive without fear of compromising the value of the car. And two, as much as I wish I could have a stable full of cars; space limits me to “just one.” Ask any questions.

  • VertexAuto (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Are these original Fuchs or replicas?

  • Burgsailor (seller) 1 year, 9 monthsago

@Funracer HA! Thank you. Great Taste you have (SC and yes, its a Twin Busch). I love that scissor lift - but not a much as my back does :).

  • Funracer (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

I have an 83 in GP White. Is that a Twin Busch lift? It’s like looking into my own garage!
    Beautiful car. GLWTS

@Lony61 thank you! Trailer is a Trailex- I highly recommend them. No plans to sell.

  • Lony61 (registered bidder) 1 year, 9 monthsago

Great 911SC! Mine sold last week on pcarmarket. What kind of trailer do you have? Instead selling it?
