This 1980 Porsche 911SC Coupe was purchased by the seller in 2005 and subsequently underwent a custom turbocharged 3.3-liter engine build. The exterior has been refinished in Porsche GTS Red paint and modified with Turbo-style fender flares, IROC-style bumpers, a ducktail rear spoiler, and wide staggered-diameter Fuchs-style wheels. The cabin has also been fitted with new carpeting, leather Sport Seats, and a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel. Boasting a claimed output of approximately 280 HP at 12psi of boost, this turbocharged 3.3L-powered 911SC Coupe is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of Massachusetts.
This 911SC was refinished in GTS Red, a rare modern Porsche color that is currently offered as a Paint to Sample option. The exterior has been modified with Turbo-style fender flares, a fiberglass ducktail rear spoiler, and fiberglass IROC-style bumpers. Other details include front bumper “PORSCHE” lettering, Carrera script side stripes, a “Carrera RS-T” rear designation, a sunroof, yellow-finished brake calipers, and a black turndown exhaust tip. The car rides on Fuchs-style wheels measuring 16”x9” in front and 11”x17” in the rear, dressed in Kumho Ecsta tires sized 225/50 and 285/40 respectively. The seller indicates the paintwork was completed about 2 years ago and the exterior remains in very good overall condition.
The interior features replacement black carpeting and power-adjustable Sport Seats sourced from a later model 911 and reupholstered in black leather. Other accessories include a leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, power windows, an under-dash boost gauge, and a Turbo-logo radio delete cover. The air conditioning compressor has been removed, the power-adjustable side mirrors have been disconnected, and the dashboard clock is inoperable.
The flat-six engine has been rebuilt to a 3.3-liter displacement and includes a Carrera 3.2 crankshaft, a turbocharger, an intercooler, a blowoff valve, electronic fuel injection and ignition systems, a custom exhaust, and an aftermarket engine management system. A claimed dyno-tested output of approximately 280 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. The seller notes the suspension has been lowered by 1” from the stock ride height. A spare engine management computer is included in the sale, and leak-down and compression test results are provided below.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, a spare engine management computer, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned the car for 19 years, garage-kept. I modified it from a standard 1980 911 SC and turned it into a 1974 Porsche 911 3.3 Turbo IROC tribute. It has taught me all about electronic fuel injection & ignition, and how to design turbocharger systems. It was recently dyno-tuned, but before we could perform a final power run, we broke the dyno. Power is 280-290 hp with a conservative 12 psi boost, I just don't have the chart to prove it!”

The beauty of the online auction is also its downfall. Comments are forever and can change the outcome. The doors are metal and the fenders/extension are fiberglass. They reflect the paint differently especially in the sun light photos taken. In person it is probably not as noticeable. Also if the doors were painted on the flat and not vertically, then it can cause visual flip flop when mounted on car. We all see it in the pics which sucks, but in reality it is probably not as noticeable. Good luck with sale. The car is more than the paint alone.
Someone seriously messed up painting the doors then and they will be impossible to rematch .
Bid in the amount of $31,355
The 'running-through-the-gears' videos have been uploaded. No problems with gear changes. Transmission was rebuilt about 6k miles ago.
The fender flares are fiberglass, GT Racing kit.
The doors are from the original car
Are the wheel, flares, metal or fiberglass?
Did the doors come off of a different car?

@J-911 All other gauges work as intended.
I'll try for a driving video tonight and post it.
@Havenhearth The decals can be removed without damaging the paint.
I'll get back to you tonight with the tire date codes.
No track time. Given that I turbocharged it, I decided to leave the original SC camshafts in place, so it drives just like a standard SC.
@MikeyB Do all the other gauges work as intended and will you be posting some of the build paperwork/pics (maybe)?
Also, will you be doing a drive video running through the gears? Would love seeing that.
It’s a great looking build ! Thanks.
Hi MikeyB,
This is a handsome 911, particularly in this red.
A few questions, please:
Is the Porsche lettering on the front bumper removable without any damage to the paint?
Same question for the Carrera RS-T under the rear duckbill?
What is the date code of the tires?
What are the road manners of this car like? Has it been driven on track, and if so, where, with what lap times?
Thank you in advance for your time and for your assistance.
Regards,
David
@Ripstick19 The only thing I can think of is that the door frame rubber seals are new, perhaps they are pushing out the doors and the sunlight is shining on them at a different angle
@MikeyB Strange, it must just be the lighting from certain angles. Thanks.
@Ripstick19 The entire car was painted at the same time, so the doors are the same color as the rest of the car.

Certainly a good looking build, the IROC tribute and turbo charged engine
Just never been a fan of red, but that’s just me
Even stock this body style is become very popular and I must have these days it seems
With the modifications, I’m sure it will attract a lot of attention and healthy bidding
Good luck all
Both doors appear to be a lighter shade of red than the rest of the car. Can you explain that please?
