Produced from 1978 to 1983, the Porsche 911SC was given the name ‘Super Carrera” and powered by a 3.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine. This 1980 example comes finished in Black Metallic over a matching interior. Upgraded with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, a WEVO shifter kit, a new Blaupunkt Bremen audio system, and more, this 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 65k miles showing on the odometer.

This example is finished in Black Metallic. Equipment includes front fog lights, dual side mirrors, a sunroof, impact bumpers, and rear bumperettes. It rides on black-finished 16” Fuchs wheels wrapped in a new set of General G-MAX RS tires. The seller notes the installation of new shock lids on the hood and deck lid, minor paint chipping on the driver’s side door, and evidence of paint repair on the rear deck lid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with black leather upholstery. Aftermarket upgrades include a new Momo Prototipo steering wheel with a hub adapter, a WEVO short shift kit featuring a 917-style wooden shift knob, and a Blaupunkt Bremen stereo and speakers. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be in proper working order.

Power comes from an air-cooled, naturally aspirated 3.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering a factory-rated 180 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transmission. Recent maintenance includes a complete brake overhaul with a new master cylinder, brake lines, calipers, rotors, fluid, bearings, and pads, along with new tires and alignment, a Bosch S6 high-performance battery, a new fuel pump, fuel accumulator, breather hose, air filter, and pop off valve. Additionally, a new drive, AC, and alternator belts were installed.

This sale will include a window sticker, an air pump, a battery charger, the original steering wheel, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Excellent driver. This car has been well sorted and driven regularly over the past six months under current ownership. It’s ready for its next steward.”

@TheKBCollection head studs not done during my ownership so I cannot answer that question. I have not seen or experienced any signs of broken studs and was told that they had been replaced but it is not on the records I was given.

    @ChilmarkNYC Thanks for the information.

  • ChilmarkNYC (seller) 6 days, 7 hoursago

@RASno7 From my research, the dealer had purchased it from the original owner in wisconson. when the dealer purchased it he brought it to Kelly moss where they looked into he popping and backfiring, made some adjustments and installed a pop off valve. That was in 2022. I had some work done to the CIS after purchasing it in late 2023 and it starts and idles nicely. See the invoice from 1/10/24, line 1 ( check fuel system and adjust )The airbox cover was ordered by me from Achtung craft. I hope that helps. If you have further questions please PM me and we can speak on the phone. Thank you!

  • RASno7 (registered bidder) 6 days, 8 hoursago

@ChilmarkNYC Thank you for the reply. It seems like it was before your ownership but my question was - if there was any work to the CIS? The invoice form 2022 states it was in for diagnosis for non starting. A common SC issue when CIS isn't tuned properly is backfiring and detonation of the airbox - which is the reason a lot of owners install the pop off as a precaution. I'm just trying to understand that invoice because it states it's there for a non start issue, they diagnosed some of it but still experienced smoke and pops on startup. The invoice also includes a new pop off valve and that the start up issue needs further diagnosis. Then I don't see an invoice for the new airbox cover, or further start up diagnosis. So you can probably see why I'm questioning if there are any service receipts for CIS and airbox work in between that receipt and your ownership. It seems like there probably was something done since your startup video shows a very quick start and relatively consistent idle until you start to rev the engine. Appreciate any insights you might have.

  • ChilmarkNYC (seller) 6 days, 9 hoursago

@RASno7 original airbox will come with the car. The current airbox was made out in Oregon I believe. The work stated in the records to the cis was before my ownership. Pop off is still present.

  • RASno7 (registered bidder) 6 days, 11 hoursago

Any information on the airbox (current one in pics) or CIS adjustment. Invoice for 2022 states the car pops and sputters on start up and they replaced pop-off valve. I'm guessing that was a stock airbox. Is the one in pics just the upper half with factory lower? It sounds like CIS is working perfectly in your startup video. Just curious if there are any service records detailing CIS service? Or if a pop off valve is still present?

@lgwarnken @lgwarnken. Understood. It just seems odd it’s isolated to the driver door. Probably nothing. Just an observation…

  • lgwarnken 1 weekago

@jreidadams17 The black trim option for this era was a black anodized finish. It tends to fade over time. My 1980 is the same. Some of the window trim is black, and some faded to light grey or even the silver underneath.

    Lovely example, GLWS!

Does the AC work? It appears there isn't a Schrader valve in the service port.

@twickes40 Yes, the door must have been ajar. Both doors line up and close perfectly. I will take additional pictures now.

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

Was the driver door ajar in photo 23? There looks to be a abnormal gap where the door meets the rear quarter panel. If not ajar, can you get a few more photos?

  • ChilmarkNYC (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@jreidadams17 sorry. I do not know why the drivers side is black.

  • jreidadams17 1 week, 2 daysago

Can you explain why the window trim is silver on most and black on the driver door? Thank you!

@Gefiltefunk no upgrades to suspension. Suspension rides great so I did not do the tie rides or make changes. Will try to get underside photos after the weekend.

  • Gefiltefunk (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

    @chillmarkNYC
Any suspension upgrades? Sport shocks, turbo tie rods etc?
Possible to provide some photos of the underside of the car? Thanks!

@twickes40 thanks. It’s a great driver. The left edge of sport seat bolster is discolored. It is not split. Seats are overall in excellent shape

  • twickes40 (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

Thanks for viewing my auction. This SC was acquired by a dealer from the original owner in 2020. I purchased it in December of 2023 and have completed all needed work since then and have driven it regularly and added approx 1,900 miles. The car drives beautifully, handles perfectly and sounds great. AC has been charged and is blowing cold. I will try to answer any questions as quickly and accurately as possible. Driving video will be added over the weekend.

@JB630 thank you. I do have the original steering wheel. This is the all black edition momo wheel

  • JB630 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Can disregard the original steering wheel comment, missed on my first read through.

  • JB630 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Steering wheel appears to be a MOMO Mod .07 Black edition (better than a prototipo IMO). Do you still have the original? Nice looking triple black SC, GLWTA
