Up for auction is this 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo Euro-spec finished in Guard’s Red over a black leather interior. Becoming Porsche’s first ever turbocharged production sports car in 1975, the 930 represented the height of automotive styling and technology in its day. Featuring an air-cooled 3.3 L turbocharged engine, this number’s matching 1979 example has been equipped with some tasteful modifications and performance upgrades making it the perfect choice for an avid driving enthusiast. Accompanied by extensive records highlighting over $125k in documented maintenance, this Turbo has undergone a full engine and transmission rebuild. This 930 was previously listed on PCARMARKET and due to the winning bidder not fulfilling their obligations, it is now being auctioned out of Miami, Florida in excellent driving condition.
This 930 is said to have been refinished in the classic Porsche color of Guards Red many years ago. The exterior is noted to be in great overall condition for its age with some minor roadgoing wear and slight bubbling on the rear decklid. A collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery. Visual details include factory distinctive wide fenders, anodized exterior trim, a newly replaced chin spoiler, a “Tea Tray” rear spoiler, H4 headlights, aftermarket fog lights and European side markers. This 930 rides on 16 x 8, 16 x 9 black Fuchs-style wheels which come wrapped in Fuzion ZRi tires from 2010.
Inside you will find a nicely preserved black leather interior showcasing factory original Sport Seats. Modifications include a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, a wooden MOMO shift knob and an aftermarket Kenwood KDC-X689 head unit. Factory options consist of a sunroof and air conditioning system which has been converted to 134A. The air conditioning is reported to be inoperable, however, the seller confirms all other gauges, electrical components and accessories to remain fully functional.
This 930 carries a numbers matching European market 3.3 L turbocharged flat-six engine which sends a factory claimed 300 HP to the rear wheels by way of a number’s matching 4-speed manual transmission. The engine, transmission and turbocharger are said to have been fully rebuilt in 1999 and a recent service was carried out which included oil and filter changes, a new distributor cap and rotor, new spark plugs and a new shifter bushing.
Performance modifications have been installed including a 1.0 bar wastegate spring, an upgraded oil cooler, a Billy Boat exhaust system, stainless steel heat exchangers and an upgraded K27 turbocharger. An upgraded air filter has also been installed along with an Electromotive distributorless crank-fire ignition system to take advantage of the higher flowing Euro fuel system. Offered with an extensive collection of service records dating back to the early 1980’s, this 930 is said to be up to date on all due maintenance and in excellent running order.
The sale of this 930 will include a master key, the original books and tools, service records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This tastefully upgraded 930 offers the perfect opportunity for any vintage Porsche enthusiast looking to experience the joy of an air-cooled Turbo.

@efexforever We haven't had the car listed on our site for a while and it was listed at $84,999 and then $79,999. As for worth it? I most definitely think it is. I have driven this car various times and have sold a lot of other 930s, so I have a good understanding of the the value. I think you would be hard pressed to find one that drivers and performs this well for under $80k. Just my opinion.
@efexforever We are down to the last few hours. Feel free to ask any questions. This is a great opportunity to own a very well sorted 930 with tons of performance upgrades. A perfect 930 driver! As always, we are willing to work with the buyer on any parts or service they would like to have done prior to shipping out. Thanks and good luck!
