Beginning life in Texas as a non-sunroof 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe, this car was imported to Canada in 2012 and subject to a custom RSR-style restoration featuring a 3.2-liter flat-six engine. Finished in Albert Blue, it showcases backdated long-hood bodywork with steel fender flares, HID headlamps, customized Fuchs wheels, KW V3 coilover suspension, 993 brakes, an MK RSR exhaust, a Wevo short shifter, BF Torino Nürburgring bucket seats, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, leather door panels, and more. Extensively serviced and updated over the past year at a cost of approximately $20k, this custom RSR-style backdate is now being offered for auction out of Canada.

During the restoration, this 911SC was fitted with wide steel rear fender flares and fiberglass RSR-style bumpers, front fenders, a ducktail rear spoiler, and a longnose hood.  The exterior is finished in the historic Porsche color of Albert Blue and features HID headlamps, LED turn signals, dual polished mirrors, chrome window moldings, dual exhaust outlets, and an RS-style rear Porsche logo stripe. The car rides on custom widened and upsized Fuchs wheels with Sumitomo high-performance summer tires from 2018. The seller describes the tires to be in very good condition and notes the exterior has undergone paint correction and ceramic coating, although some minor defects and imperfections can be seen. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior has been redone with a lightweight RSR carpet kit, BF Torino Nürburgring bucket seats, leather door panels, a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and a Wevo shifter. The rear seats have been removed and there is no radio equipped, however, wiring is in place for a stereo system installation. The dashboard was also replaced under the seller’s ownership.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine featuring an MK RSR exhaust with headers and an upgraded oil cooler. A rebuilt 5-speed 915 manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels and the car features upgraded 993 brakes, a bump steer kit, and a KW V3 coilover suspension with upgraded bushings. The seller notes the engine was resealed within the last few years and recent service includes an oil change, brake fluid flush, a new battery, rebuilt brake calipers, and a corner balance and alignment.

This sale will include a spare tire, all original keys, a binder of service history & build documents, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Not to be confused with the long list of leather-wrapped Singer-like backdates hitting the market these days, this is an RSR-inspired hot rod ready to be DRIVEN!   It's light, loud, incredibly engaging (and a bit challenging) to drive, and steals the show at every cars & coffee with a great colour and awesome road presence.    A lot of time and money has gone into building a reliable guilt-free driver that gives you a smile every time you see it in the garage.   No power steering, no ABS, no traction control, just you and the car.   We have enjoyed experiencing, sorting, and improving this car over the last year and we hope it goes to a great enthusiast who can appreciate the time and thought invested.   We are happy to help with transport/import back to the US or abroad.  Best of luck to all!”

Friendly reminder that this RSR auction ends on TUESDAY, so please reach out for any last minute viewing or inspection requests.

For any US buyers, remember we are happy to help with transport and import back to the states. This is a previous US car over 25 years old so the process is easy. Just expect 2.8% duty and about $1k in broker fees. Feel free to reach out regarding any import/transport questions.

Hey @flat6er - here in Canada we cant do carfax reports on any car with a 10 digit vin (I think anything 1982 and older) - but I can confirm no accidents since the car has been in Canada (of which most time was spent being build, only maybe 5k miles driven since build). I have not bothered checking a US carfax for the cars prior life because it came as a stripped shell/roller, so prior history became pretty irrelevant, but usually @pcarmarket uploads a carfax in these listings so perhaps they can help with one if its available? I can at least confirm the car looks very straight and has a clean title.

  • Flat6er (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Hi there, can you advise on previous accident history? Is there a Carfax available? Many thanks.

I’ve just uploaded scans of the most recent service, performed just a couple hundred miles ago to prepare for auction, for $7,244, including a full mechanical inspection, fluid service, alignment/corner balance, ride height adjustment, brake caliper overhaul, and a variety of minor adjustments and repairs. This doesn’t include over $8,000 in new parts from Porsche and FVD to freshen things up.

To avoid any surprises or disappointments to a potential buyer, I want to highlight as many notes as possible about what to expect with this car. The driver door needs adjustment (finicky to open). The side mirrors look great but don’t aim well. There is no radio, but the speakers are installed/wired up if someone wants to install one. There is no AC. The suspension is stiff with hardened bushings and creaks/squeaks over bumps at slow speeds as you’d expect. The clutch is mechanical and effective but heavy and takes skill to master. The shifter is also firm, requires effort to drive. These are some of the things that make it one of the most fun, engaging, and charming 911’s I’ve ever driven. The car fires up every time without issue and runs like a charm, pulls strong, shifts well, sounds amazing. This is a very raw hot rod 911 ready to be enjoyed, but shouldn't be confused with a new 992. I’d drive it across the country tomorrow!!

Driving video being uploaded this afternoon.

Sorry guys had to dig through the history folder to find wheel specs. They are genuine fuchs, upsized to 9x17 and 11x17. Both with 5.75" backspace. They look great on the car, really impressive RSR finish. Hope this helps!

  • henryr (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@txagmx5 yes, no mention of wheel size. looks like fuch centers into a 17 barrel? 1, 2 piece? 9s and 10s?

  • Jarod964 (seller) 1 monthago

@txagmx5 - took a driving video yesterday, will try to get it uploaded today!

  • txagmx5 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@henryr From the listing: "The car rides on custom widened and upsized Fuchs wheels with Sumitomo high-performance summer tires from 2018." From the photos: 235/45-17 front and 275/40-17 rear.

    Does it have A/C?

  • Jarod964 (seller) 1 monthago

Thanks for checking out our auction today. You are bidding for the chance to win a very fun and interesting 911. ’79 SC shell, mid-‘80s 3.2 Carrera engine, KW suspension, 993 brakes, and an awesome RSR-inspired lightweight body and interior. This was a 10+ year passion project, now hitting the market for the first time, finally ready to be enjoyed by a lucky new enthusiast!

The car is located in Canada, but we sell many cars to the US and overseas, so we can help with every step of the process for worldwide transport and import. As a previous US car over 25 years old, re-import is very easy. A US buyer only needs to anticipate ~2.8% duty, about $1k in broker fees, and the cost of transport. If you have any questions, we will be around all week to answer, don’t be shy to ask. Viewings and PPI’s always welcomed.
