Up for auction is this backdate 1974 Porsche 911 RSR tribute finished in Glasurit Orange over a custom performance oriented interior. Starting life as a 1979 911 SC sunroof delete, this coupe recently underwent a full bare metal custom restoration in the style of a backdate 911 RSR race car. Beautifully executed while highlighting extensive performance upgrades including a rebuilt 3.2 L short stroke twin plug engine, this RSR made its first public appearance at the 2018 Werks Reunion at Amelia Island Concours, where it scored a first in the 911 Outlaw class. Previously sold on PCARMARKET, this RSR is now being offered by its seller in Nevada with approximately 72k miles shown on the odometer and less than 1k miles on the build.
Upon commencement of the restoration, this 911 was taken down to bare metal and professionally refinished in #018 Glasurit Orange with SEM Rock-It undercoating tinted to match body color. All rust was removed, and fiberglass RSR flares were added along with fiberglass bumpers and a carbon fiber IROC RSR tail. All of the work performed is noted to have been carried out to a very high level and the exterior of the car is said to remain pristine (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). This 911 is riding on a set of Fifteen52 Outlaw 003 wheels (9.5x17 and 11x17) dressed in Toyo R888R tires (255 and 315 width).
Upon entry, the driver is greeted by a custom upholstered performance-oriented cabin in leather and Alcantara with deviated orange stitching. Modifications include a Wevo shifter, leather and Alcantara GTS Classics seats, RS lightweight carpeting, RS-Style door cards, an RSR-style 10k tachometer and a 996 cup car steering wheel.
Power comes from a completely rebuilt 3.2L short stroke twin-plug flat-six engine running MS3X management. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 915 5-speed manual gearbox with Wavetrac limited slip differential. The upgraded flat-six engine is said to produce 280 HP at the crank and remain in excellent running order. Other performance modifications include:
This painstakingly assembled and fully street legal 911 RSR tribute offers a truly special opportunity for any vintage Porsche motorsports enthusiast. Do not miss your chance to add this impeccable build to your collection.
