Originally delivered in California, this 1978 Porsche 911SC Coupe benefits from a recent glass-out repaint in its rare factory color of Copper Bronze Metallic. It features an attractive Cork leather interior and is modified with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, Fabspeed exhaust, Wilwood brake calipers, a WEVO shifter, and a Griffiths air conditioning system. The 3.0-liter flat-six has also been treated to an engine-out service with Carrera chain tensioners. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this beautifully appointed 911SC is now being offered for auction once again out of Texas with approximately 86k miles showing on the odometer.
This 911SC came factory-finished in Copper Bronze Metallic (443), an uncommon color offered during the late 1970s. The seller indicates the car underwent a glass-out repaint in its original color and the exterior remains in good overall condition with some small chips on the front end. Equipment includes body-colored headlamp rings, rectangular front fog lights, a fender-mounted antenna, an electric sunroof, a driver’s side mirror, a chrome oval Fabspeed exhaust tip, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in new tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features desirable Cork leather upholstery complemented by matching carpets, a black headliner, and custom two-tone coco floor mats. Other accessories include an Alcantara-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, a WEVO shifter, power windows, air conditioning, an analog clock, a locking glovebox, and a cassette stereo. The air conditioning system has been upgraded with a Griffiths R134A kit including a new compressor, dryer, and lines.
Factory-rated at 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque, the air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. An engine-out service is said to have been completed and the engine has been fitted with upgraded Carrera chain tensioners. Other modifications include a Fabspeed exhaust system and Wilwood brake calipers.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a great Porsche for anyone looking for a well-sorted car that retains its classic style and elegance but also would make someone an incredible driver.”

@Flash1102 All the recommendations were performed to the car based on the Porsche Certification program. The suspension was also updated along with the brakes.
There was NO damage to the engine, it had some leaks that were repaired.
This car if spotless underneath.
Bid with confidence!
The tech report from April 2023 reports visible damage to the engine. Test of brake lines/hoses &
brake/clutch fluid failed to meet requirements. Were these corrected? When was the engine out
service performed. Was it top end or complete engine? Date & auto mileage at time of work please? Thank you John

My client was not the owner of the car when the car was resprayed. Per the owner which the car was purchased from for my client, and CarFax stated that NO body damage was repaired nor reported sir. I’ve run a magnet and a paint meter over the car and it shows NO signs of Bondo, Filler or Lead. Paint meter indicated a very consistent respray.
I hope that helps. The one has only lived in two states, California and Texas.
When was the repaint? Any bodywork at that time?
The head studs were done.
When you pulled the engine for chain tensioners did you also replace the head studs? I missed that in reading your report. John
Bought a different car today. I won't be there tomorrow.
Thanks.
@Flash1102 yes, I have all the original items for the car.
