Up for auction is this 1977 Porsche 911 S Targa finished in Guards Red over a black leatherette interior. Showcasing Porsche’s classic Targa design, this 1977 example was the subject of a $70k restoration which included a full respray in Guards Red, houndstooth reupholstered seats and refurbishment work carried out by Porsche’s Classic Center. Accompanied by extensive service records and a Certificate of Authenticity as well as a recent PPI from an authorized Porsche dealership, this beautifully reconditioned 911 S Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller in Salt Lake City Utah.
This 911 is reported to have been refinished in Guards Red under previous ownership through Porsche of Colorado Springs. The original color of the car is noted to have been Silver Metallic, and the paint is stated to be in very nice condition although a small rock chip can be seen on the hood (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). At the time of the repaint, all exterior trim was replaced including rubber body seals and gaskets. The Targa top was also refurbished by well-known restoration expert Dave Brown in Boulder, Colorado. Noteworthy details include an iconic Targa band, rectangular front fog lights and forged alloy Fuchs wheels which come dressed in Yokohama tires.
Inside, the black interior has been beautifully restored with houndstooth reupholstered seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel. The cabin is reported to be in exemplary condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional, although the PPI indicates that the windshield wipers park in the wrong position and that one indicator light is out.
Power comes from an air cooled 2.7 L flat-six engine which sends 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. Included service records show proper routine maintenance and the seller confirms this 911 to be in excellent running order with a recent PPI available for reference within the photo gallery.
This sale will include keys, extensive service records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This beautifully presented 1977 example is just waiting to be enjoyed by its next caretaker, do not miss out on this opportunity.

@Markthom67 The gears/transmission shifts well/strong. I personally have not inspected the synchros, but it operates/drives perfectly IMO. I have only driven it about 1800 miles in the last 2 1/2 years. it drives smooth - I am impressed that at 90mph it has very minimal steering wheel vibration.

@wlalkens All can be arranged. Costs vary depending on type of shipment and different Value Added Taxes required per country.
@BigWheels I have spoken to Porsche Colorado Springs who worked on the car in their Classic Center. This engine has had significant time and improvements put into it to refurbish and modernize the motor. Most notably the chain tensioner update kit and an updated alternator with internal voltage regular has been completed. In the photos Invoice #28193 has a great description as well. Great records to see with the vehicle!
