Marking the final year of Porsche’s mid-engine sports car developed in collaboration with Volkswagen, this 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 was originally sold in Minnesota featuring the optional Appearance Group package. It was acquired by the seller from a private owner in 2013 and has undergone a host of upgrades and customizations including a front oil cooler, stainless-steel brake lines, Minilite wheels, a Bursch muffler, an electronic distributor, carbon fiber & aluminum trim, LED instrument lights, a modern fuse panel, and more. Maintained by a 914 specialist and supported by a decade’s worth of service records, this 914 2.0 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Pennsylvania.

This 914 is finished in Black with a matching removable Targa top and vinyl-covered sail panels which were included as part of the Appearance Group. It features gold Porsche stripes on each side along with matching 15” Minilite wheels. Other accessories include a Porsche-logo tail panel third brake light, dual mirrors, front fog lights, and a polished exhaust tip. The seller notes rust repairs have been carried out at the bottom of the driver’s door and below the battery shelf, and the Dunlop tires are 10 years old. Some paint chips and scratches are noted as well. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features charcoal grey carpeting and tan leatherette upholstery on the seats, door panels, and armrest. The optional Appearance Group adds a gauge stack center console which has been customized with carbon fiber and aluminum trim. Other modifications include additional oil pressure and temperature gauges on the center dashboard, an aluminum shift knob and tri-color shift boot, an aluminum Rennline footrest, aluminum door sill trim, two-tone Coco floor mats, a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo, a fire extinguisher mounted below the passenger seat, and a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel. Upgraded LED lights have also been installed for the gauge cluster.

Power comes from an air-cooled and fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat-four engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle that drives the rear wheels. The seller notes an upgraded Ignition 123 electronic distributor has been installed along with a hot start relay kit, a front oil cooler, and a Bursch muffler. Other upgrades include PMB stainless-steel brake lines, a JWest fuse panel, and an Odyssey battery with an aluminum mount. The seller adds that the car has been professionally maintained by an independent 914 specialist and service records are available dating back to 2013.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, an umbrella cover, a service cover, and a collection of removed original parts.

The seller would like you to know:Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for 10 years, and it has been garaged all that time. All maintenance is done on or ahead of schedule. The addition of a front oil cooler is unique in that it does not intrude on the front trunk yet provides significant oil cooling. Whenever possible, I have installed upgraded parts, e.g., the old German fuse block has been replaced with a more modern one with spade fuses. An additional fuse block now protects the direct-to-battery circuits from overloading other components. All shift coupler bushings have been recently replaced, shifting is crisp and direct. All door and top seals are new. The Minilite wheels are 6-1/2 wide allowing much larger tires for superb handling without modifying the wheel wells. This is a well-maintained, solid cruising 914.”

Beautiful car, I had a 75 914 back in college. Had to get rid of it when the kids came. Would love to have one again.

@mrboxsters No before pictures. Just after the car was purchased I had the shop replace the battery tray, support and hold down, as well as the jack plates and receivers. Later there was some rust starting to show at the bottom of the passenger door, which was repaired. At various times when the car was on the lift, any surface rust on suspension or chassis components was removed and painted with rust preventative. All repairs are documented with service tickets.

Thank you for the quick response and answers. I realize it’s hard not to have the reflections come through. Just needed to double check and I appreciate the extra effort. I’ll let you know if I can get to Camp hill prior to the closure of the auctions.

@msandford74 The black paint is highly reflective, as you can see the roadway and background reflection in many of the pictures. I've uploaded the views you requested, but the reflection problem is still evident. The front hood has 47 years of encounters with road debris, as it is original paint. What you perceive as scratches on the front passenger door and fender are reflections - there are no scratches in the paint. This is not a Concours car, although I feel it would do well if presented in a local show. Most if not all of the paint imperfections can be easily fixed with touch-up paint and some buffing. The car is available to look at in person.

Hi, can you take close up pics of the front and rear hood? Would like to see what looks like touch up paint and discoloration of the paint.
Also I can’t tell from the pic showing the passenger side front fender and door if there are scratches in the paint or it’s a reflection, can you confirm, and if it is scratches adding additional pics of the scratches.
Is the car available to look in person?

@mcjeeper Thanks for the comment. And for those of you who might not understand his last remark, that's one Texas A&M graduate greeting another ... which shows he looked at the pictures and saw the Texas A&M sticker on the rear window.
