Offered exclusively in the United States for one year only and with less than 2,100 examples produced in total, the Porsche 912E was created to replace the outgoing 914 as Porsche’s entry-level sports car. It shared its chassis with the premium 911 model and was powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four engine with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. This example is said to have been refinished in its reported factory-specified shade of Oak Green Metallic over tan and features Fuchs alloy wheels and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is said to have been originally sold in Michigan before making its way to Long Beach, California where it is said to have remained for most of its life. Having undergone a major service in 2014, this 912E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing approximately 146k miles on the odometer.
This 912E is said to have been refinished in its reported factory-specified shade of Oak Green Metallic with polished door handles, window moldings, and a matching driver's side mirror. The car features rectangular factory front fog lights, a center tail panel reflector with “PORSCHE” lettering, and a date-stamped factory spare tire. This coupe rides on factory Fuchs alloy wheels that come wrapped in Nitto NT 450 tires. A few minor cosmetic imperfections are noted. A collection of detailed images is provided in the gallery.
The tan leatherette interior is said to have been refreshed with factory Porsche-branded floor mats, new carpeting, new window cranks, and attention to the driver's seat. The seller notes the dashboard is free of cracks the AM/FM Alpine radio operates as expected, and the factory-optioned air conditioning system is currently inoperable.
The 912E is powered by an air-cooled Porsche-designed VW 2.0-liter flat-four engine with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and an output of up to 86 HP and 98 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox and stopping power is handled by disc brakes at each corner. The seller states that this 912 underwent a major $9k+ service in 2014. Another service was completed in September of 2023 and the car received a new fuel sender unit.
Included in the sale are owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. This 912E is said to be rust-free with a straight body, garage-stored, and serviced regularly. A very nice example!!!"

Having said that, I will be upgrading my car to 16x7 Maxilite repro wheels soon. I like the look and want the most tire I can possibly fit.

In my opinion, these are reproduction 15x7 at all four corners. I have 15x6 ordered from the factory on my 912E and the lips/offsets look very different.

Lots of “said to be”s in the description. Who said it to be?
This looks like a lovely car. The colour combination is beautiful.
What parts of the VPC air conditioning system are missing? Since the car has 15" Fuchs wheels and not the OEM 14" Fuchs wheels, how can you tell the 15" Fuchs wheels are Porsche originals and not reproductions? What other areas of the car have bubbled up paint from rust like the area on the bottom of the front windshield on the passenger side? Are there any dents in the body as it is hard to tell from the photos with all the reflections in the paint. Also, where are all the the areas with touched up chipped paint? Thanks

A beauty - the $9k service keeps coming up - this was close to 10 years ago, have many miles been added? Will it have an oil change for new owner or ?
@ IlikeCars - the description states the AC is “currently inoperable.”
Also: Does the AC work? Can we also see a photo on the area where the battery sits? Thanks very much
Can we please see a photo under the Porsche carpets in the front seats? Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $14,000
@R-car4Me these are galvanized, the only bit of surface rust is posted on picture #22. There is no gouge/dent in the door, this is the illusion from the lighting inside the shop. The rims are in very good shape actually; again must be the lighting , I’ll post pictures of them in natural light this week. The paint is by no means show quality, it’s older but shows out very nice, a few bumps and bruises on the ol’ girl - she is 47 yrs old. Thank you!
@maimone it’s been in storage.
@Damaho912 yes, I’d say color is on the rarer side. It does appear as black at night. I’ll get some pictures of it in the daylight this week for you. Thank you!
@PheasantRun yes, I’ll post details of the major service done in 2014. Please stay tuned

Hi- Can you explain some of the pictures you posted with your 912-Pict-17 looks like a ding or a gouge in the front door -Pict 22 looks like rust to me 30, and 31 looks like rim cancer-Pict 78 and 79 looks like the paint is terrible from the bottom looking up
There are more, so let's start with these.- How many paint jobs has this 912 had?
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Bid in the amount of $8,000
Bid in the amount of $6,500
The oil filter is dated 2014 has the car been running since then? Whats going on here?
Just love this! Can’t say I’ve ever seen this color before. Gotta be somewhat rare? Might I suggest some pics in the sunlight to better highlight the color? Looks more black than green.
Can you be more specific on the $9k service in 2014?
Bid in the amount of $6,000
@Somer yes, In 2014

@prmnorton1 good evening thank you for your comment
I will post a picture underneath engine. Gearbox overall is good, however shifting to 3rd gear you have to pause ever so slightly and gently engage , it doesn’t hinder the driving at all. I can get a video posted for you.
Thank you!
Hi, do you have any pictures directly underneath the motor? Any leaks? Rust?
Any issues with shifting?
Are you able to post a Drivng video with you going through the gears? Thank you.
