Finished in Black over a matching interior, this 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is one of only 479 Targa versions produced for the model year. It was sold new in Hamburg, Germany, equipped with gold Carrera script side graphics, platinum-colored 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car was imported to the U.S. in the 1980s before it was exported to Norway in 2013 where it was kept in a private collection until the current owner’s purchase in 2021. It benefits from service in October 2023 including a fuel system adjustment, new camshafts, wheel alignment, reupholstered seats, and new carpets. Accompanied by original owner’s manuals, service records, and a letter from Porsche Autozentrum Sport AS, this rare 911 Carrera 3.0 Targa is now being offered for auction out of Oslo, Norway.
Compared to contemporary 911 models, the top-range Carrera 3.0 features wider rear fenders to accommodate larger 215/60 tires. This example is finished in Black with a matching Targa bar, removable roof panel, and contrasting gold Carrera script side graphics. Other equipment includes H4 headlights, headlamp washers, a rubber front chin spoiler, dual body-colored mirrors, a rear fog light, and 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with platinum-colored centers. The Kumho tires show production date codes from 2018 in the front and 2020 at the rear. The seller notes the car was completely refinished in 2014 and a small blemish can be seen next to the hood on the right front fender. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The Black interior was refurbished in 2023 with new Lakewell carpets and seat upholstery. Accessories include a three-spoke leather steering wheel, manual window cranks, Porsche-branded floor mats, German-market VDO gauges, a new Continental stereo, and aftermarket door speakers.
Sharing its die-cast aluminum case with the 930 Turbo, the air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and delivers up to 197 HP and 188 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Service in October 2023 included replacing the camshafts, valve cover gaskets, an oil hose, ignition components, fuel system adjustments, and a wheel alignment. The gallery includes corresponding invoices and a letter from Porsche Autozentrum Sport AS confirming the original engine and gearbox numbers.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a toolkit, service records, a 2010 California title, and a current Norwegian registration.

@sportscarguy3 This car can’t be legally registered in California without serious modifications to the engine. Because Carrera 3.0 cars were never officially imported to the US, they don’t have any of the necessary equipment to pass California emissions. It can be done by places like G&K in Santa Ana, though it’s not cheap and it tends to take a while to get done.
@sportscarguy3 Hi. I cant give exact qoutes on so short notice, but calculate about $5000 USD in total for container shipping to California area states. Thats for all transport, export, import and so on.
RoRo is a bit cheaper and we have done it many times witgout any issues. @montecarlobeach thank you for sharing your experience, thats spot on.
I will for sure helpe the winner to get the best possible deal from our shipping partners.
@sportscarguy3 The RORO shipping is "roll on/roll off" and is typically not in a container. That said, in many cases the vehicles are stored on a lower deck (if the carrier is configured for this, which limits their exposure. Finally, while it sounds terrible to have a car shipped without a container, the trip is finite and pretty short (it's not like it's stored in the salt air for months). I've done this and detailed the heck out of the car when I got it and it came through without issue. (Think taking a ferry across the English Channel, only longer.)
Question about cost to ship to what I believe would be Oakland California
San Francisco is the main city in my area of Sonoma County California but I believe all commercial shipping ends up going to Oakland California
Also I have a question about the type of shipping you mentioned it seems there’s two different types one with the container and another one with the letters that I assume is without a container but I don’t understand how would you ship a car like this from Norway without having it be in a container
I sold my 1983 Targa 10 or so years ago and did enjoy it for many many years would like to own another one
One final question is regarding the exhaust. Are there catalytic converter‘s on this Porsche as it sits now?
As a 1976, I believe it will have to pass California omissions, smog testing requirements
Thank you
@palien it's been snowing and salt on Norwegian roads now so no driving video, sorry.
Transmission was overhauled some years ago. Hardly done any km since then.
Engine was just gone over by Autotech Sport, no issues. It's drives and runs very well.
Bid in the amount of $28,000
A driving video would have been good. How is the gearbox, all changes up and own the box good, no jumping out of gear or difficult to down shift?
Any leak down / compression tests for a high mileage unit?
Any other work or modifications on the engine by previous owners. Would have thought more would have been done? Thanks.
Very nice car.
Bid in the amount of $26,911
