Honoring the memory of Enzo Ferrari’s late son Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari, the Dino car marque was established by Ferrari in 1957 to offer more affordable, higher-volume sports cars. The Dino GT4 was produced from 1973 until 1980 as Ferrari’s first mid-engine V8 sports car, featuring Gandini-designed Bertone bodywork and a 2+2 seating arrangement. One of 2,829 examples produced between 1974 and 1979, this 1975 Ferrari Dino GT4 came factory-finished in Rosso Corsa over a black leather interior with red carpets and seat piping. Featuring a mid-mounted 2.9-liter V8 engine paired with a traditional 5-speed gated manual transmission, this Dino 308 GT4 is now being offered for auction out of California.
Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Dino GT4 is characterized by sharp, angular body lines and features pop-up headlamps, side air intakes, flying buttress C-pillars, and black horizontal vents on the bonnet and engine cover. This example is finished in Rosso Corsa and equipped with black bumpers, dual black mirrors, chrome window moldings and wiper arms, an electric antenna, a rear prancing horse badge, quad exhaust tips, and factory 14” silver Campagnolo 5-spoke wheels. The seller indicates the car was previously refinished in its original color. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a 2+2 seating arrangement with black leather upholstery and deviated red seat piping and carpets. Accessories include a leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a gated shifter assembly, power windows, air conditioning, a heater, analog Veglia Borletti instrument dials, and a vintage Concord AM/FM stereo.
Rated at 240 HP, the transverse 2.9-liter Dino V8 features an aluminum alloy block and heads, dual overhead camshafts, and quadruple Weber carburetors. It drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Other equipment includes double-wishbone independent suspension, anti-roll bars, coil springs, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Maintenance history is limited, and the seller encourages any interested parties to inspect the car during the auction.

Our showroom staff just checked the A/C for the first time and apparently the compressor engages but the A/C is not blowing cold, most likely needs a charge.

The A/C to be honest we never bothered checking, as dyerhaus stated quite correctly, either way one should not expect much as the vents practically render the A/C useless on these models. It could well work but lets assume not! Thanks for dyerhaus useful and informed responses.
@Bryon - That's a typical "feature" with the 308 GT4, the front hood rarely looks to be seated properly. I think the issue stems from the fact these hoods are so thin and they frequently get slightly warped on the driver's side because someone will forget to push the button in on the shock before trying to shut the hood. My car was actually worse than this one when I bought it as well.
@frisco5459 - Every 308 GT4 should have those, as @wcclassics noted they are access panels. The service depends on where you live and where you take it, of course, all that considered it could range from $3000 to $6000. Definitely get it done as there's no record of the last time it was performed.
@Joevant - Not sure if the AC question was ever answered, but I can tell you not to expect much from it! I have the same car and just had the AC fixed last month. It blows cold, but it doesn't help that much as your vents are on top of the dashboard and essentially cool the windshield. A working AC is better than nothing, but don't expect to be cool on a hot day—you will still have sweat on your back!

Those floors are not patched. Floors are fiberglass and aluminum panels are access areas
Chassis has some rust and can use some maintenance. Not terrible. I have the same car.
A belt service will be needed. About 3k good idea to change the water pump at the same time

As explained earlier there are no service records, the car was purchased as is, the car drives great as per the video but we both welcome and encourage inspections. You will get different quotes from different specialists as to a full service, we would suggest contacting your local mechanic and ask them for a quote. Whatever quote we give here will be simply conjecture on our behalf.
Seller, the engine bay looks nicely detailed, but are there maintenance records on major services performed? If not, prospective bidders perhaps should assume a major service be performed post-sale. Do you have a ballpark on what a purchaser needs to budget for that? Just trying to cover the unknowns…

No service records and absolutely no rust. All gaps and the hood fit are good. No signs of any accidents. Inspections both welcomed and encouraged / we are available for inspections every day of the week by appointment.

Why does the hood on the driver's side appear to not fit properly? Is there any rust in the body or structural bits, as the underside looks to have a lot of surface rust at least? Does the car come with any history or service records?
@TheVintageCarGuy - Usually there's a belt there that would connect to the air pump. This is pretty typical, a lot of 308 GT4 owners remove the air pump and the belt as its emissions gear that's no longer needed in any state. When I bought my car all of its emissions gear was intact, but that belt wasn't installed (which is also fairly common). Later on I hollowed out the air pump and connected a belt so it "appears" factory correct, but doesn't function. When you show the car at a concours, it must be factory correct and have a functional appearance. So, not needed if you're just looking to drive the car and show at casual events like cars and coffee. But if you get into showing the car at concours you'd need to find the right parts and get them installed.
@dyerhaus You seem rather knowledgable about these cars, being an owner of one and all. I, on the otherhand, know little to nothing about them. So perhaps you would share with and explain to me regarding what I'm seeing in pic 103 and 104. What I see is a pulley without a belt. What's missing? What is that supposed to be driving?

Oh, also has the wrong steering wheel. The one in the car belongs to a 308 GTB or GTS. Obviously it works and looks similar, but it is not correct to the car (if you're going for the factory correct look).
This looks to be a really good example. If you're looking for a "correct" car (by "correct" I mean "the way it left the factory") then there's only a few little cosmetic issues:
Headers were never red (should be silver)
Wrong nuts on the air filter cover
Trunk “Dino 308 GT4” badge should be chrome
Trunk carpet has some part missing and some severely worn
Exhaust needs to be replaced (it is correct but not worth keeping on the car)
Exhaust grill is installed upside down
All emissions equipment is missing (not needed, but not correct with it gone)
There's mention of a toolkit, but no photos, so not sure if it's original or not. Don't see mention or photos of books/manuals or the document pouch either. None of those are cheap to replace.
If this car drives as good as it looks, I don't think you can go wrong with it. This was manufactured 45 cars after mine, which means they were likely in the factory together! It's like a long, lost brother. GLWA!
