Available for auction is this 1974 Volkswagen T2 Type 2 Kombi 23-window conversion finished in two-tone red and white over a white and grey vinyl interior. The T1 generation of Type 2 buses are among the most desirable of all classic air-cooled Volkswagens, particularly those of the 21 and 23-window configurations. This 1974 T2 Kombi underwent a rotisserie restoration and 23-window conversion in 2021 courtesy of Overland Imports after being imported from Brazil. It features seating for nine, a safari-style windshield, two sets of pop-out windows on each side, a retractable cloth sunroof, double cargo side doors, two wooden roof racks, a completely rebuilt drivetrain, and more. This VW is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
During its restoration in 2021, this Type 2 was refinished in two-tone red and white and fitted with Alpine roof windows, pop-out side windows, and a split windshield with pop-out front glass. The seller reports this bus has been garage kept since the completion of the restoration, available for reference in the gallery. Equipment includes dual roof racks made from Brazilian wood, painted bumpers, polished door mirrors, passenger-side barn door-style doors for entry, and outward-opening safari-style dual windshields. It rides on a set of 14” steel wheels finished in white with chrome hubcaps and whitewall tires which were mounted in 2021.
The nine-passenger cabin has been reupholstered in two-tone white and grey vinyl, complimented by white door panels and grey carpeting. Amenities include a retractable cloth sunroof, three rows of seating, a white painted dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a partition behind the front seats. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from an air-cooled 1500cc 4-cylinder engine which drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller reports the engine and transmission were rebuilt during the restoration while the suspension, steering, and braking systems were also refurbished.
This Volkswagen is accompanied by a bill of sale.

@Tpcarmarket Yes we have the Brazilian title in hand, we have the import documents, police inspection and Georgia Bill of Sale. All good to go.
I just talked to the Ohio BMV. Do you have a Brazil title or registration to pass on to the buyer?
@Tpcarmarket we do not think there will be any issues for Ohio. We have sold several buses to multiple states with bill of sale without any issues.
Any concerns getting a title in my state-Ohio? With just a bill of sale for an auto…

@SRMPDX In Brazil they continued making the split window until 1974 then after 1974.5 they moved to a Brazilian version of a Bay Window called a clipper
I find these Brazilian "retro-mod" busses interesting. Did they continue making the 1st generation early body style in Brazil after 1966, or are these 2nd gen busses that have had body replacements?
