In 1974, Pontiac offered the GTO as an optional trim package on the compact-sized Pontiac Ventura. Only 7,058 units, including 5,335 coupes, were produced during the single model year. This example has been under the seller’s ownership for 42 years and underwent a total restoration between 2019 and 2021. The exterior was refinished in its original Buccaneer Red paint color and the cabin was fitted with Corbeau RRS seats, a 6-point roll cage, a new headliner, a new Classic Dash, Autometer gauges, a Hurst shifter, a stereo amplifier, and a subwoofer. The car derives over 600 HP from an upgraded 487ci V8 with an Ohio forged 4.50 stroke crankshaft, Keith Black forged pistons, Eagle H-beam connecting rods, Competition hydraulic roller cams, Kauffman high port aluminum heads, a Northwind air intake, and a Holley Snipper EFI. The car also features an Art Carr 2004R automatic transmission, a Quick Performance Ford 9” rear end, Wilwood disc brakes, coilover suspension, a VFN fiberglass hood, and 18”/19” Billet Specialty wheels. Meticulously maintained and restored under the care of its long-term owner, this fourth-generation Pontiac GTO restomod is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut.
This Pontiac has been refinished in its original Buccaneer Red color (75) using PPG paint and a clear coat. The original impact bumper assembly has been removed and a contrasting black VFN fiberglass cowl induction hood has been installed. The car rides on black-finished Billet Specialties wheels measuring 12”x19” in the rear and 10”x18” in the front, dressed in 2018 Continental ExtremeContact tires sized 325/30 ZR19 and 255/35 ZR18 respectively. The seller notes the paintwork was completed in 2020 and remains in very good condition apart from some minor signs of road-going wear.
The cabin has been redone with a new headliner, a new Classic Dash, a dash pad, and Corbeau RRS bucket seats. Modifications include a 6-point roll cage, Autometer analog gauges, a Hurst shifter, and a stereo system with an amplifier and a subwoofer.
The 487ci V8 is based on a 1969 Pontiac 400 4-bolt main block which has been bored .030 over and equipped with an Ohio forged 4.50 stroke crank with 3" main journals, Keith Black forged pistons, Eagle 6.700 H-beam connecting rods, Total Seal file fit rings, FM rod and main bearings, Competition hydraulic roller cams, Kauffman high port aluminum Heads, a Northwind intake, an MSD distributor, and Holley Sniper EFI. An estimated output of 600-625 HP is delivered to the rear wheels through an Art Carr 2004R 4-speed automatic transmission with a Quick Performance Ford 9” rear end and aluminum center section 3.50 gears. The car has also been modified with coilover suspension and Wildwood 6-piston calipers with disc brakes at each corner.
This Pontiac is offered with a registration and a bill of sale.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 42 years, purchased when I was 16. The car has gone through a few changes when I was younger, built 400 with a 4-speed, added tunnel ram, back to modified 4 barrel with NOS and Turbo 400. The car was not used since 1987 and sat in the garage. Total restoration down to shell started in 2019 and finished end of 2021, the first car show was in April 2022 and it has been driven 2,334 miles since completion. I am a mechanic by trade, any question regarding car, engine, or drivetrain I will be able to answer.”

@spsgarage this is more of a pcar auction. But sells a good amount of non pcar stuff. I think there is a lot less ego on here compared to bat. More distinguished crowd. No need to heckle. No random nonsense comments from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. I like it here a lot better. Higher quality auction.
This is a beautiful car you have here. I can tell a lot of heart went into it. And is probably going to be hard to let go of.
GLWA to you the Seller and any potential buyer!!

@SPSGarage where was spell check when I fat finger
Question for all, new to online auction, seems to be big difference between PCM and BAT, what's up with that?
Not a lot of interaction between everyone, is this a good or bad thing?
@BobD926 Thanks for the appreciation, I had a few others as daily's but this is the one that took all my money. I drooped an old photo from 84' sorry for the quality in it.

Wow! At least once a week I think about some of the cars I’ve had over the years and wish I’d kept them. Hats off to @SPSGarage for being smart enough to keep the car he bought at 16, even through a few different permutations, and eventually turning it into the beautiful beast it is today. Gorgeous work and GLWA.
