Representing the first-generation Nissan Z-Car, this 1974 Datsun 260Z was purchased by the current owner out of Missouri in 2018 and treated to a high-performance engine swap. It features a replacement L28 engine sourced from a 280Z which was bored .040 over stock and rebuilt with new JE pistons, a shaved E88 head, a reground L28 camshaft, triple 40mm Weber carburetors, a Cannon intake manifold, and 6-into-1 stainless-steel exhaust headers. It has also been equipped with a 5-speed 280Z manual transmission, a custom Valeo clutch, stiffened lowering springs, window louvers, aftermarket bucket seats, a MOMO steering wheel, and a wooden shift knob. This modified 260Z is now being offered for auction out of Maine.

This 260Z is finished in silver and features chrome bumpers, door handles, and window moldings, dual black mirrors, “Z” emblems on the C-pillars, 260Z fender badges, an electric antenna, aftermarket rear window louvers, and factory 14” Hurricane wheels. The seller notes some cosmetic imperfections including paint nicks and dings, and parts of the exterior were likely refinished under prior ownership. The Kumho tires are said to be in good condition while showing 2016 production date codes. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior has been fitted with a pair of aftermarket bucket seats, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a wood gear knob, a Pioneer head unit, Boston speakers, and rear-mounted subwoofers. Other accessories include black carpet floor mats, woodgrain door panel trim, manual window cranks, a heater, a locking glove box, and analog Smiths instrumentation. The seller is unable to confirm the functionality of the stereo, however, all other accessories are said to be working properly. The original steering wheel is included in the sale.

Power comes from a replacement 2.8-liter L28 inline-six engine which has been bored 0.40 over stock and rebuilt with new JE pistons and rings, a shaved E88 head, a reground L28 camshaft, an uprated 280Z turbo oil pump, triple 40mm Weber carburetors, a Cannon intake manifold, and 6-into-1 stainless-steel exhaust headers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 280Z-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox with a custom Valeo clutch and a Fidanza aluminum flywheel with a steel friction face. The seller states stiffer lowering springs have been installed and the original springs are included in the sale. The car was recently serviced with fresh fluids and is said to be in good driving condition for the next owner.

This sale will include the original springs, steering wheel, and a clean title.
