A three-door sports coupe based on the Citroën DS, the SM model was produced between 1970 and 1975 featuring a 3.0-liter V6 engine built by Maserati, a subsidiary of Citroën at the time. This 1973 example is finished in white over black leather upholstery and is equipped with a 3-speed automatic transmission, self-leveling hydropneumatic suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Originally sold in California before spending time in New York, Toronto, and Montreal, this Citroen SM is now being offered for auction out of Canada.

The SM was designed by Robert Opron and features aerodynamic fastback bodywork with a large glass rear hatch, a covered license plate holder, partially covered rear wheel arches, and a long, tapered aluminum hood. This example is said to have been previously refinished in its original white color and is equipped with U.S.-spec sealed beam headlights, chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, and 15” steel wheels with bolt-on hubcaps.

The four-seater interior features black leather upholstery with grey carpets below. Accessories include a single-spoke steering wheel, a brushed metal dashboard and center console, a suspension height adjustment lever, analog Jaeger gauges, and a pushbutton radio between the front seats.

Shared with the Maserati Merak, the 3.0-liter V6 engine is equipped with triple Weber carburetors and delivers up to 190 HP and 187 lb.-ft of torque to the front wheels through a 3-speed automatic transaxle. Standard equipment includes a self-leveling hydropneumatic suspension with variable ride height settings and hydraulically assisted four-wheel disc brakes with inboard front rotors. The seller states the car has been meticulously maintained by Citroën specialists including Jerry Hathaway from SM World, Dave Burnham in New York, Fitzback Garage in Quebec, and independent Citroën technician Anatole Blain of Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur.

This sale will include owner’s manuals a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Time has come to tick the box SM ownership (which is essentially a DS on steroids). This particular specimen was Always serviced by the very Best Citroen specialists (Jerry Hathaway from SM World (with countless receipts! ) Dave Burnham (NY) and Anatole Blain in Quebec who performed a 12500$ Service to pass safety in Quebec. Without the orange DOT sticker/plaque it would be very difficult, or impossible to register in California.

GoodMorning Vintage Car Collectors & enthusiasts!

Welcome to another Off-Chart Cool vehicle, From La Belle Province.

Doctor’s Car. Well Maintained! Space Shuttle , the Concorde of 4 wheels. So Many titles this car has. And they all fit Perfectly Well, like a glove.

100000$ was spent on it since 2004. All service records are there to prove. It is an Exotic car after All, Not a dishwasher / microwave on wheels like people drive today.

Works very Well. The ‘Automatique’ transmission makes it a noBrainer to Drive, like a Cadillac, specially in traffic. A breeze.

Very Easy to import. I will Assist the new Custodian with great mastery @ lighting like speed.

    GLWTA
