Finished in metallic green and customized with wide fender flares, this 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe has been upgraded with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine featuring dual Weber carburetors, electronic ignition, SSI heat exchangers, and a Leistritz exhaust. It also features a WEVO shifter, a MOMO steering wheel, fixed-back back seats, RS-style door panels, 930-style brakes, Koni shock absorbers, and 15” Fuchs-style wheels. This modified long-hood 911 is now being offered for auction out of Tennessee.

This 911T is said to have been fitted with wide fiberglass fender flares and bumpers in the early 2000s. It was refinished in metallic green more recently and features white Porsche script side stripes, yellow-lens H4 headlamps, red brake calipers, external hood latches, a driver’s side mirror, and dual center-mounted tailpipes. The car rides on 15” Fuchs-style wheels dressed in 235/50 Toyo Proxes tires. Some misaligned body panels are noted by the seller and rust on the floors and inner frame rails is said to have been repaired under prior ownership.

The black interior features fixed-back leatherette sport bucket seats with matching fabric inserts. Accessories include a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a WEVO shifter, RS-style door panels, aftermarket pedal covers, stainless-steel door lock pins, and analog VDO gauges. The seller indicates aftermarket speakers are installed in the doors, although the car is not equipped with a radio.

Sourced from a 1976 Porsche 911S, the air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine was reportedly installed in 2020 and features dual Weber carburetors, 123ignition electronic ignition, Turbo valve covers, an electric fuel pump, SSI heat exchangers, and a Leistritz exhaust. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle. The car has also been upgraded with 930-style brakes, Turbo tie rods, Koni shock absorbers, and a front strut tower brace. The battery has been relocated to the smuggler’s box and the gas tank was replaced under prior ownership. Service over the past year is said to include an oil change, a new fuel pump and regulator, and carburetor tuning.

This sale will include a clean title.

Did I miss the additional photos and details of the rust repairs, specifically where the passenger jack point is covered or removed? Can you post those if available?

  • DukeZ (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Salty_Dog: I think back in the day the car was forward dated to an impact bumper car, and then was back dated later to a long hood car! That might explain the G body latch panel...

@Salty_Dog It had a long hood latch installed back when it was a long hood configuration

  • Salty_Dog (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Miles.S - What was the circumstance or history on the trunk latch panel being replaced with one from a G-body car? The original long-hood trunk latch panels are significantly different.

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@DukeZ Puffs at startup but clears up after it’s started. A puff at startup is fairly normal. Driving it is clear

  • DukeZ (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Just rewatched the video, and it blows a fair amount of smoke, both on start up and while running. What are your thoughts? Normal, needs rings, big problems?

  • gwarvo (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

I had the opportunity to drive this car at the beginning of the month and have to say I was impressed with how well this car shifts and drives. No hunting for gears, rev matches very easily, and all around a fun drivers car. Starts up easily and ready to hit the road. It’s definitely a great platform to continue building out. Bid with confidence on this car. Miles has done a great job preparing this 911 as always.

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@DukeZ Shifts smooth up and down. The wevo is great combined with the current shift coupler. No alignment issues. Tach works fine. Ive gotten into a habit of tapping these gauges. Usually the oil level and fuel level stick on these cars. But they are functioning properly

  • DukeZ (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Hey Miles...a few questions: how are the synchros? Are downshifts smooth, or crunchy? Are there any glitches in the tach? (In your long driving video, at around :52sec, you reach forward and tap the tach as if to get it going?)

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

    @f_l_a_t_s_i_x

    Anything???

  • DukeZ (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Yeah, it's clearly rough (no offense), and has it's issues, which I'm ok with, but flatsix makes it sound like there's a deep, dark past to the car, with pictures to show. If there is, it'd be nice to know!

@DukeZ Thanks! I am curious as well. Not trying to hide anything. Cool outlaw build and thats it!

    Thanks, Miles

  • DukeZ (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Hey flatsix...please share the history you know about! And ask Robbie to share the photos he's got. If we're going to bid, we need to know if there's a questionable past. Thank you!

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Classiccarexplorer Engine is a 2.7 modified with Weber Carburetors. Good smooth running engine

Always loved the '72 side oil door. Singer emulates that bit o' kit on many of their builds for a reason. ;)

*clean title and NO accidents that I know of

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@f_l_a_t_s_i_x Hi there, what part of the history are you referring to? It was recently repainted and in the past was a long hood converted car. But that’s all that I am aware of. Do you have any history prior to that? Always has had a clean title and accidents that I am aware of.

It’s an outlaw but so I know that buyers are interested in the originality on this one. Appreciate you reaching out though!

    Miles

  • f_l_a_t_s_i_x 4 months, 3 weeksago

@Miles.S there is a lot of history to this car that is probably worth sharing to the prospective bidders here...I'm sure Robbie provided the photos.

  • Miles.S (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

    @Barker Thanks for reaching out!

I will get the car up on the lift tomorrow and put some more photos up.
No oil system parts and no leak down or compression numbers. I should be able to grab some compression numbers this week. Car is strong. Very smooth, was used as a daily driver locally. Pedal box not rebuilt but feels good.

    Cheers, Miles

    Hi, A few Qs:
Was the jack point on the passenger side removed?
Can you post more photos and details of the rust repairs and any spots that will need attention?
do you have the old 72 oil system that can be re-installed or is that gone?
Do you know if the pedal box has ever been rebuilt?
Any compression numbers or leak down results?

There's a lot to love about this law abiding out law. I have to throw my hat in the ring, but I'm guessing someone will fall in love with it and that's probably the way things should go with this kind of 911. : )
