The C3 introduced new styling and drivability to the early Chevrolet Corvette. This 1972 Coupe was acquired by the selling dealer from its owner of approximately 41 years, who began restoring the vehicle in 1984. Powered by a 454ci V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, this example benefits from a mechanical overhaul, an interior restoration, and custom bodywork incorporating flared fenders, chrome accents, 15” Turbine-style wheels, and more. Finished in red with black accents over a color-coordinated interior, this C3 Corvette is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Washington.

The C3 Corvette was heavily influenced by the 1965 Mako Shark II concept car designed by Larry Shinoda. As part of a thorough cosmetic restoration in 2012 by the local specialists at Juanita Auto Service, this example was fitted with custom bodywork including a custom cowl-induction hood, flared fenders, a raised rear spoiler, new chrome components, and period-correct 15” Turbine-style deep-dish wheels with Cooper Cobra tires, sized 265/50 up front and 295/50 at the rear. A new headlight system was also installed, encompassing vacuum boosters, actuators, housings, bushings, and wiring. The seller notes previous bodywork was performed in 1984 following cosmetic damage under previous ownership. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with photos of the comprehensive restoration.

Inside, the cabin has been fully reupholstered in black, featuring bucket seats with four-point Crow Enterprizes racing harnesses, a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, a custom shifter handle, and woodgrain trim on the door panels. Amenities include power windows, air conditioning, and a suite of center stack gauges covering water temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage, and a clock. A custom stereo was discreetly installed behind the driver’s seat, while the dashboard unit is currently inoperable. The seller confirms that all other gauges and accessories are fully functional. The odometer was reset to zero during the 2008 mechanical restoration, and new electrical wiring was installed.

Power comes from a 454ci LS5 V8 engine rated at 270 HP and 390 lb.-ft of torque, paired with a 4-speed Muncie manual transmission. In 2008, the engine and transmission were rebuilt, and the suspension and braking systems were refreshed. Upgrades included an enhanced intake, carburetor, ignition system, a high-output alternator, a new serpentine belt, and a new aluminum radiator and cooling fan. The seller notes that, prior to comprehensive restoration, the car was stored for approximately 19 years after an electrical wiring fire in 1993. Additionally, fresh fuel and fluids were filled in preparation for the sale. A host of service documentation is said to accompany the sale.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Purchased in 1983 for $1500 with significant cosmetic damage to the fiberglass bodywork, making it ideal for customization. In 1984, it underwent restoration and customization, including bodywork and paint. The car was on the road from 1984 until 1993 when an electrical wiring fire occurred. It was stored for 19 years, and restoration resumed in 2012 with ongoing upgrades until 2022. The car has been stored since 2022 (the owner passed away). It was recently cleaned, with fresh fuel and fluids, and is ready to drive.”

GAFox Not sure original cause of the issues however the gentleman who restored the car replaced the entire harness and rewired the car when it was apart before all the fiberglass work was done to rebuild it

Looks like some of these receipts are for PO’s other vehicles. Do you know what the wiring issue was that caused the fire, and what, if any, things were done to rectify that? Looks like a good project to continue with.

I've always wanted a C3, but instead of getting a new Corvette in the early 1970s, I got drafted and ended up on an MSC vessel. Bum deal if you ask me. Th seat belts on this one are red.

Since it had front end damage, is the title "rebuilt"? AC work?
