The BMW E9 grand touring car was designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister and manufactured between 1968 and 1975 while its iconic racing counterparts achieved notable victories in the European Touring Car Championship. Refinished in Chamonix White over blue upholstery, this 1972 example is said to have been initially delivered in Italy before being imported to California. Said to have been restored approximately 6 years ago and previously held as part of BMW collections, this meticulously maintained E9 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado.
The E9 presents elegant and distinctive styling cues including front kidney grilles, pillarless windows, and rear "Hofmeister Kinks" decorated with BMW roundels. This example was refinished in the current shade of Chamonix White as part of the restoration and the ride height has been lowered with Bilstein shocks and struts. It rides on 16” Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels dressed in Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires. The seller notes a small ¼” blemish on the front right fender, additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents blue cloth-trimmed bucket seats with matching door cards, chrome trim, and a contrasting black dashboard with wooden veneers. The seller adds that the front seat cloth and wooden surfaces were restored under previous ownership. Equipment includes a wooden three-spoke steering wheel, a suite of metric VDO gauges, and an upgraded Becker radio. Additionally, the rear seatback has been signed by previous owners throughout Italy. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
Beneath the forward-canting hood is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine featuring a 9.5:1 compression ratio, Bosch electronic fuel injection, and an output of up to 200 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Photographs of the engine and transmission casing stampings are provided in the gallery. The seller states that yearly service has been carried out and there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.
This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a car cover.
The seller would like you to know: "This is an excellent example of BMW's most beautiful E9 ever created. Many people say this is the best of BMW. Timeless lines and beauty in a strong inline 6-cylinder engine that is what M power is built on today. This is an excellent numbers-matching show car and driver to the show. It has one many ribbons and accolades along the way in addition to being showcased in BMW showrooms and Parades. Also, the seatbacks have been signed by previous Italian owners since new!"

Just wanted to make sure everyone new that there is 2nd set of unmounted original 15" BMW CSI rims that come with the car.

The last oil change was in 8/21 The mileage was at 1020km at that time. I would assume the new owner would want to drain and put in new fluids of their choice.
The compressor belt was that way when i purchased it.

Hi @t.sandin63
Thank you for sharing this, the 3.O CSi is such a beautiful car.
Was the last Oil change in 8/2021? Approximately how many miles has it been driven since then?
Do you know why the compressor belt was removed?
Thank you,
Jason
@Pislui The 3.0 CSi has a 9.5:1 compression ratio, Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection, and produces 149 kW (200 hp) at 5500 rpm.
@EMG01 yes true KM, from various purchase parties and shops that worked on along the way.
@EMG01 Yes, There is documentation from carpet samples and invoices for lights, switches, carpet, rubber gaskets, hood washer nozzles, nardi steering wheel components, etc., all in the yr 2006 when the owner before me acquired the car and the mileage is stated at 74936km or 47k miles. The dealer also had records from them working on it before they sold it, so i know the mileage is correct. all instruments, seating, components were original or replaced with oem items at that time from what i can tell. I will upload images in the morning.
Hi, is this the version with 200bhp or 180bhp?
Thank you
Is there any documentation of services and restauration? Has the odometer has been changed at restauration? Any documentation of true KM?
