The BMW E9 grand touring car was designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister and manufactured between 1968 and 1975 while its iconic racing counterparts achieved notable victories in the European Touring Car Championship. Refinished in Fjord Blue Metallic over a brown leather interior, this 1971 example is said to have been ordered with the European Package and has undergone several tasteful upgrades including a later-model 5-speed manual transmission, Bilstein shocks with aftermarket springs, 14” FPS alloy wheels, a MOMO steering wheel, an Alpine CD radio, and door-mounted Morel speakers. Accompanied by a host of service records and reported to have undergone regular maintenance over the past decade, this 3.0 CSi is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona.
The E9 presents elegant and distinctive styling cues including front kidney grilles, pillarless windows, and rear "Hofmeister Kinks" decorated with BMW roundels. Reported to have been originally delivered in Baikal Metallic, this 3.0 CSi is said to have been repainted in the current Fjord Blue Metallic color under prior ownership. Additionally, the hood, roof, and rear are said to have been refinished along with the installation of new weatherstripping in 2017. Exterior details include chrome-finished front and rear impact bumpers, chrome pinstripes that run the length of the car, a driver’s side mirror, quad headlights, and a single exhaust outlet. It rides on 14” FPS alloy wheels dressed in Sumitomo HTR 200 tires. The seller notes areas of paint bubbling on the doors. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features brown leather upholstery with matching carpets and a beige headliner that are reported to have been replaced in 2016. Details include a MOMO steering wheel with three drilled spokes and a wooden rim, woodgrain trim pieces, power windows, and an Alpine CD stereo with door-mounted Morel speakers. The seller notes that components from the air conditioning system have been removed. All other gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This 3.0 CSi is equipped with a fuel-injected 3.0-liter inline-six engine that sends its power to the rear wheels through a later-model 5-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the valve cover gasket, fuel filter, ignition components, and steering coupler were replaced in May 2021 along with cylinder four’s intake valve spring being replaced in July 2022. It rides on Bilstein shocks with aftermarket springs. Additional services since 2013 include sandblasting and powder-coating the front subframe, rebuilding the front brake calipers, replacement of the front brake lines, replacement of the power steering pump, and replacement of the front control arms. The seller adds that service records dating back to 1992 are included in the sale.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Brandonwu0822 Hello, I just drove the car and the steering wheel sits straight while driving.
@Ambiorix hello, the doors close all the way and the seal is good. No rain leaks when I have driven it in the rain.
Is the steering wheel sideways while driving straight in your video?
It seems the doors dont fully close and leave a gap at the windows. Do I see that correct? Can you confirm it is rainproof n all sides?

Hello Everyone,
This car is a classic beauty with a ton of heritage. I find the exterior color and interior color are very complimentary. Very solid mechanically and very well taken care of by professional garages. This is one of two cars from my collection I’m selling as I’ve acquired two other cars to add to the collection. This particular car is one of my favorites and gets a lot of compliments. If you have any questions please comment or message me. Appreciate everyone who bids and good luck!
