Up for auction is this mechanically complete 1970 Porsche 911 3.6 Outlaw project car.  Commissioned just 8 months ago, this fully drivable 1970 example is in the late stages of its transformation with completed internals and a long list of performance upgrades.  Equipped with a fully rebuilt 964 sourced 3.6 L flat-six engine, this 911 represents the perfect basis for a high-performance one-of-a kind Outlaw build.

This 911 remains finished in its originally specified color of Tangerine.  The seller indicates the exterior finish to be in fair condition and confirms the body to be in great shape (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Brand new H4 headlights have been installed along with new rear bumper guards. This 911 rides on a set of upgraded alloy OEM wheels which come wrapped in Sumitomo tires.

Inside, this Outlaw features a stripped interior with a custom leather-wrapped carbon fiber dashboard cover.  Noteworthy details include OEM 993/964 VDO gauges, an aluminum knee brace and a new pedal assembly.  Many components have been custom powder coated including the control arms, struts, gas tank, pedals and hood hinges as well as the shifter and parking brake assemblies.  The cabin has also been lined with sound deadening material and covered with Rhino Liner in an effort to maximize driver comfort.  New turn signal and wiper controls have also been installed and the seller confirms all gauges, electrical components and accessories to be fully functional.

Power comes from a fully rebuilt air-cooled 3.6 L flat-six engine which was sourced from a later 964 model.  From stock, this 3.6 L power plant is rated at approximately 250 HP and 310 lb-ft of torque.  This engine features a new stainless-steel exhaust system with headers as well as a custom dual oil-cooler system with AN fittings and steel braided hosing.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a completely rebuilt 5-speed 915 manual transmission with a new power friction clutch kit and flywheel.  The suspension has been overhauled with Elephant Racing and Tarett Engineering parts, and the brakes have been upgraded to a larger 996 spec with stainless-steel brake lines.  Bearing only a few test miles on its freshly rebuilt drivetrain, this 911 is ready for someone else to step in and finish this project.

The sale of this project car will include one key, books, and records of the build.  If you have always wanted to carry out your very own high-performance custom Outlaw build, this mechanically complete 3.6 L 911 serves as the perfect platform.

We're down to the last few hours. Thank you for all your questions and bids. This is a really great opportunity to build & customize a one of a kind long nose hot rod 911, without having to deal with most of the mechanical and suspension work. Similar builds have searched $140K at auction. Good luck to all, especially those who we have spoke to personally. We will be monitoring the auction so feel free to ask any questions. Thanks you!

@jimcomer The brakes are stock 996 brakes. For suspension we used Bilstein shocks with Elephant Racing and Tarret Engineering components. Feel free to call us and we can have you speak with our tech Wayne who can provide you with all the details.

@kidslearningtube There was no major rust when the car was painted. I believe what you are seeing is surface rust on parts that the paint has chipped and the metal has been exposed.

  • VertexAuto (seller) 4 years, 7 monthsago

@jimcomer There are several pics of the underside. Do you want to see anything in specific? All the body panels are original and not fiberglass. The RF fender is loose but should fit / match up well. I'll see if we can tighten it up and submit an image.

I'm noticing a lot of inner body rust that was covered by paint. Is this body and frame sound or will it need to be completely sandblasted and repainted?

What did you use for brakes and suspension. Are those fiberglass fenders? The right one does not fit well? Are there any other parts that are included..

  • jimcomer (registered bidder) 4 years, 7 monthsago

Need pictures of underside. What brakes are you using? Are the front fenders fiberglass? RF does not look like it matches up very well. Any other parts go w the car?
