Now available is this 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 “Stampede” finished in Super Blue over a custom Stampede Gray leather interior. Based on an original Mustang Mach 1, this 1969 example was transformed by GAP Racing of Houston, Texas as a no-expense-spared custom project in 2011. Over the course of the four-year build, this Mustang received widened carbon-fiber bodywork, custom PPG Super Blue paint, a Kaase Racing modified Boss 572ci V8 engine, a TCI Engineering suspension with RideTech air ride and magnetorheological shocks, Wilwood big brakes, an integrated roll cage, a fully custom seamless interior, and much, much more. Debuted at Detroit Autorama in 2015, the Stampede was selected as a Great 8 finalist for the prestigious Ridler Award and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
This Mustang is finished in a custom shade of PPG Super Blue created by the specialists at Painthouse of Cypress, Texas. Minus the roof, the entire body was fully customized during the build including 1.5”-widened carbon-fiber front fenders, 2.5”-widened 1970 Mustang quarter panels, a rear carbon-fiber decklid, a custom Shelby-inspired hood, 3D-printed custom tail lights, LED headlights designed for a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and hand-built rocker panels. Other exterior details include a modified Ringbrothers carbon-fiber front bumper and valance with a 1968 Camaro lower grille, a custom Ringbrothers carbon-fiber rear bumper and valence, custom door handles from Lokar Performance Products, a center-exit hexagonal exhaust, silver-painted Brembo brake calipers with hydro dipped carbon-fiber “Stampede” lettering, an East Bay Muscle Cars billet aluminum fuel filler, and a Boss 302-inspired front stripe across the hood and front fenders. The build was painstakingly executed using stainless steel button-head fasteners, leaving no visible nuts or bolts throughout the body and chassis. The Stampede rides on custom multi-piece matte black Rushforth Livewire wheels sized 20"x10" in the front, 20"x12" in the rear, and mounted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
The interior is trimmed in custom Stampede Gray leather with blue stitching throughout. The dashboard retains the same shape as the original 1969 Mustang, now wrapped in gray leather with Dakota Digital VHX gauges, blue LED backlighting, a Ford GT40-style switch panel, and a push-start ignition button. An integrated roll cage is fitted behind the headliner, and a removable harness bar sits across the rear seats, which fold down to allow access to the dual PowerXS batteries. A custom BMW-style center console opens to reveal the controller for the RideTech air suspension system and an additional controller for the ambient LED interior lighting. Driver amenities include a custom air conditioning setup by Vintage Air, with custom vents by Trique Manufacturing, a rear window defroster, a Billet Specialties steering wheel, and aluminum pedal set, and an Alpine double-din head unit which controls an upgraded sound system including two Alpine 10” subwoofers mounted in the trunk.
Under the hood, this Mustang features a Boss 572ci Ford Big Block V8 with Boss aluminum heads that was dyno-tested at 800+ HP. It features a Kaase Racing head and eight stack injection system, Ford Powertrain headers, and a custom stainless steel jet-coated exhaust system. The block was sanded down by hand and repainted in bright silver, with custom billet “Stampede 572” badges, custom Brillman spark plug wires, Hosecandy braided radiator hoses, and polished hardware, brackets, and pulleys. The rear wheels are driven by a 6-speed Tremec Magnum manual transmission and a Trac-Lock limited-slip differential. The suspension is coated in brushed chrome and consists of a TCI Pro Touring tubular independent front suspension and a TCI Torque Arm rear suspension, with Wilwood 14” cross-drilled rotors and 4-piston brake calipers at each corner. The trunk-mounted air suspension system by RideTech includes Instinct Electronic Shocks, which use a magnetorheological system to adjust dampening as the driving surface necessitates. The seller reports a recent oil and filter change as well as an adjustment to the air suspension.

@Rjack501 …. This car was custom built to make a run at the Ridler award with hundreds of thousands of dollars spent to achieve that goal. I don’t believe they ever thought about putting a lic. Plate on the car.
