This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is the subject of a custom restoration including an upgraded Ford Racing 306ci V8 engine paired with a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission. Said to have been an original California car, this Mustang was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its factory color of Raven Black. The interior has been redone and modified with a GT Performance wood grain steering wheel, TMI Sport II Pro-Series front bucket seats, a Hurst shift lever, a Velocity Series 6-gauge cluster, and an Alpine touchscreen stereo. The car also features a Maier Racing fiberglass Shelby-style hood, LED headlights, an EZ-EFI 2.0 fuel injection system, trumpet air intakes, headers, Flowmaster tailpipes, MagnaFlow mufflers, RideTech Level 2 coilover suspension kit, Wilwood disc brakes, power steering, and 17” American Racing wheels. Purchased by the seller in 2019, this 306-powered Mustang restomod is now being offered for auction out of California.
The exterior was reportedly stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original Raven Black paint color during the restoration. The car has been modified with a Maier Racing fiberglass Shelby-style hood to accommodate the trumpet air intake system. Accessories include chrome trim and bumpers, dual round mirrors, 7" LED dual-function headlights, ceramic window tint, dual Flowmaster tailpipes, and 17” American Racing wheels with Shelby badging, faux knock-off spinners, and Nitto NT555 225/45 tires from 2020. The seller notes a small paint chip on the rear driver’s side near the trunk, small stress cracks on the top of the windshield, stress cracks near the passenger-side rear window above the trunk, and very light rust on the chrome trim near the left front fog light. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior features TMI Sport II Pro-Series low-back front bucket seats, TMI Sport II Pro-Series tilting headrests, and a 14" retro Cobra-style GT Performance wood grain steering wheel. Other accessories include a TMI center console, a black powder-coated Ididit Ford-style tilt steering column, front power windows, power door locks, a Viper remote alarm system, a Velocity Series 6-gauge instrument cluster, a TKO 500 Tri AX shifter, a Hurst shift lever and knob, and an EZ-EFI 2.0 fuel injection system screen. The sound system also features an Alpine touchscreen stereo paired with upgraded speakers, an amplifier, and a subwoofer.
This Mustang has been equipped with a Ford Racing 306ci V8 crate engine paired with an EZ-EFI 2.0 fuel injection system, an Aeromotive EFI fuel tank system, trumpet air intakes, headers, Flowmaster tailpipes, and MagnaFlow mufflers. The rear wheels are driven through a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission. The car features a Borgeson power steering conversion kit, a Ridetech Level 2 coilover suspension kit with HQ coilovers, and Wilwood front and rear disc brakes.

GLUX, sorry, didn't mean to confuse the auction. People were asking things about the car that pointed back to prior ownership, so I thought it might help to post that link. But everyone looking and bidding here can see a lot of things have been improved on the car based on those receipts - coil over suspension, headers & exhaust, power steering, tilt steering column, new seats, LED headlights, tires, wheels, etc.
@GrigioF430 thanks! Please note suspension has since been replaced with multiple other items- check receipts in photo gallery.

@dohertyh3 thank you- unfortunately no receipts passed along prior to 2019 purchase. It has not had an air filter on it since current ownership. It’s unknown the brand of individual throttle bodies.
Has this ever had an air filter on it? Do you know what brand of ITBs are on this? Do you have receipts prior to your ownership?

Thanks!
@INOV8 thank you for the comment and bid! The exhaust does not extend to the back of the car and everything was ‘rearranged’ due to sitting too low. The paint/bodywork date is unknown but prior to 2019. I would say overall an 8 in grade- it’s quite beautiful. The few/minor stress cracks in paint is most likely from body flex..
Bid in the amount of $8,000
Very tastefully done Mustang with a clean look! Have a few questions. 1. Are there Flowmatser tail pipes that come with the car that extend to the back of the car? I just see turn down exhaust tips after the mufflers. 2. Do you know how long ago the body & paint work was done, and if the areas of stress cracks are common in mustangs of this era? 3. In the distant photos the finish looks perfect, but when you get closer it appears to have a fair amount of orange peel, how would you rank the cars overall finish 1 to 10? 10 being glass like show car finish and 8 being average new car? Thanks

@StablesCollection Yes! Correction- Las Vegas!
Got it...thanks. It was from Las Vegas 2019. Much nicer now.
@StablesCollection Thank you @StablesCollection Was from the Scottsdale AZ auction, OCT 2019.
Which B-J auction did you purchase from?
It is amazing- thank you! Never raced or tracked. Odometer (I’m told from Barrett Jackson purchase) is correct, matching the 306ci V8 crate engine.
Looks amazing! How many miles on the engine? How often has the car been raced / tracked?
Thank you.
