Available for auction is this 1964 Mercedes-Benz W113 230 SL finished in white over a red interior. The 230 SL was the first model to be offered as part of the W113 series and was produced up until 1967. This 1964 example is believed to have had two owners prior to being acquired by the seller and comes equipped with a fuel-injected 2.3L inline-six cylinder paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Recently serviced with a new clutch and brakes, this classic SL is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The W113 used styling cues front the iconic 190SL and 300SL roadsters which it replaced, but gained its own characteristic Pagoda hardtop making it one of the most distinctive SL models of all. This example comes finished in white with a matching removable hardtop, a black convertible top, and a set of 14″ steel wheels with chrome covers. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is trimmed in red upholstery with matching carpets and door panels. Body-colored trim accents the front of the dashboard with wood veneers along the top. The seller notes that the seams of the seats have begun to separate and will provide new covers for the next owner to install. Equipment includes a VDO analog clock and instrumentation as well as a locking glove box.
Power comes from an M127 2.3L inline-six-cylinder engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Recent maintenance is said to include the installation of a new clutch, brakes, and muffler. The seller states that there are no outstanding service items at this time.
This SL is accompanied by a registration and a bill of sale.

A very lived-in car. The interior is charming to me, almost want to leave it alone although that driver's seat is pretty far gone.....and once you start......new interior including door cards. The underhood and under body are concerning but not terrible. Corrosion in spots, floors look pretty good as far as the pictures show. This is a tricky one. Not quite nice enough to just drive, but a full resto is going to be expensive.

Wondering about the floors? Are they solid, any repairs? What about paint quality and imperfections? Quality of the bumpers? What about the wood on dash? Thanks
