Among the most desirable classic Corvettes of all, the 1963 Split-Window Coupe (SWC) marked the introduction of Chevrolet’s second-generation Corvette sports car and was the first to be offered as a coupe. Powered by a 327ci V8 mated with a 4-speed manual transmission, this example comes finished in silver over a dark blue interior. Reported to have remained with its second owner until approximately 2014, this iconic Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

This example is said to have been refinished in silver throughout the 1970s. Its most distinctive feature is the split rear window, which divides the rear glass into two separate panes. Other details include hidden headlamps, split bumpers, cast rocker-panel trim, quad taillamps, a chrome driver’s side mirror, hood and fender vents, and dual exhaust tips. The car rides on 15” three-eared knock-off spinner-style wheels. The seller notes paint chips on panel edges, and additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features dual bucket seats upholstered in dark blue vinyl with matching door panels, dashboard, and carpeting. Amenities include a vertically mounted push-button radio, an analog clock, rubber floor mats, roll-up windows, a heater, a locking glove compartment, a three-spoke Corvette-branded steering wheel, and lap belts for the passenger and driver.

This C2 Corvette is equipped with a 327ci V8 engine delivering as much as 250 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Muncie manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential. Notably, the C2 was the first Corvette to feature fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel drum brakes. The radiator is said to have been replaced under the current ownership.

This sale will include a clean title.

I just looked in my corvette book and it’s a 250hp. RC code on the engine stamp…

@Wakegolf I will clarify the HP shortly.

  • Cabrito1970 (seller) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

Hello everyone. This beauty was bought new in 1963. The original owner sold it in the late seventies to the second owner. The second owner's sons then inherited from their father. I am the third owner. It is a solid car, very original and mechanically sound. GLWA!

  • Wakegolf (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

Just clarifying the horsepower. The listing says 340hp but the valve covers and air cleaner would suggest it’s a 250 or 300hp. Thanks!
