Based on a 1977 Datsun 280Z with an Alpha One fiberglass bodykit, this 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO replica was completed in 2011. The car underwent a mechanical restoration with an overhauled suspension, a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission, and a rebuilt 2.8-liter L28 inline-six. It also features a custom tan Ferrari-style interior, a three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel, chrome wire wheels, a modern fuel injection system, a ported racing head, an electric water pump, and an Ansa exhaust. Purchased by the seller out of Pennsylvania on PCARMARKET in January 2023, this Ferrari replica has since undergone a host of maintenance items and is now being offered for auction out of California.
Modeled after a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, the fiberglass Alpha One bodykit is finished in traditional Rosso Corsa paint with a polymer clear coat. Details include triple air intakes on the nose, covered headlamps, fog lights, twin fender vents, chrome hood pins, Scuderia fender shields, racing numbers, dual chrome mirrors, an integrated rear spoiler, a polished fuel cap, and Ansa quad exhaust pipes. The car rides on chrome 15” Dayton wire wheels with Ferrari-branded faux knockoff spinners. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features tan and brown vinyl upholstery covering the custom Ferrari-style dashboard, seats, and door panels. Accessories include a three-spoke Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, a center console with cup holders, red pedal covers, a black shift boot with red stitching, a carbon-look gear knob, a JVC stereo, and aftermarket speakers. The seller indicates the passenger door handle mechanism and rear hatch lock need to be repaired.
Power comes from a 2.8-liter L28 Datsun inline-six that was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership with a ported racing head, a modern fuel injection system, a 10 lb. flywheel, an electric water pump, headers, and an Ansa exhaust. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The previous owner had reportedly installed an upgraded wiring harness, a new generator, and a new clutch before the current owner’s purchase. Since then, the car has been serviced with a refurbished starter, a new battery, alternator, shocks, bearings U-joints, rear half axles, and rear springs. The seller adds that this car has a California smog-exempt pass.

@Chupee I sense annoyance and sarcasm in your response. Yeah, it does not matter about any comps or Tom Cruise-driven GTO. Ultimately it's what I want for the car, and now that's the "buy now" amount.
@Docfin It was classified as a Specially constructed Vehicle with Ca DMV ( used for hobby cars with different car parts frames and bodies) and the person building it applied for smog exemption ( 500 in CA every year) and got the smog exempt cert.
@rugbyguru Not sure those comps have any merit as you paid 83. Vanilla Sky car is a whole other story. You could attache Tom Cruise's name to a rock and get big money. THx

In Feb this year, the GTO that was featured in Vanilla Skye with Tom Cruise went for $183 K That's a 100 K more, and it's basically the same Alph car as mine. I have 2 other comps of the same as my car for $150 K and $120 K sold in 2023.
I do have the names and paperwork of 2 mechanics who worked on the car but they don't allow that in the postings. let me know Tks

@rugbyguru My best and final would be 80 as I have the PCAR fee also and trucking down here. There is little to no paperwork, so I have no idea what the deferred maintenance is as there always are with these kit cars. We all know too well these cars are not investments, just emotional toys we enjoy. ALl the best!

Hi Chupee, I appreciate the new offer. To be honest, I would like to get close to the "Buy Now" price, because I know it's worth it. This is a great complete 250 replica with the California Smog Exempt cert which would cost a lot to get a smog if it had to, and change the whole car sound. Also, it takes a lot of time ( and money) to get all the little details that have been added. I have also had other offers/interest outside of this auction. Make another offer that I cant refuse?

For California residents interested this is a smog-exempt car here in Ca. No smog is required, it has an smog exempt cert inside of the door ( pic show in group)
Unfortunately, I dont have those records The previous owner overhauled the gearbox very recently I can get that mechanic info if needed.
