This 1961 Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi Deluxe underwent a full restoration in Brazil in 2023 before its importation to the U.S. in 2024. Powered by a 1.2-liter flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, this Brazilian-market example is refinished in two-tone Palm Green and Sand Green over a two-tone green interior. It features body-color bumpers, a roof rack, 11 windows, including front Safari windows and pop-out side windows, 15” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, a cabin heater, and more. This Type 2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
During its comprehensive rotisserie restoration, this example was refinished in custom two-tone Palm Green and Sand Green, complemented by matching bumpers. It features 11 windows, including front Safari split windows, pop-out side windows, and a rear hatch window, along with dual side mirrors, a right-side barn door, a roof rack, and a wood-slatted side ladder. It rides on 15” steel wheels adorned with chrome hubcaps and wrapped in new Firestone tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The three-row interior features bench seats reupholstered in green velour fabric adorned with color-matching paneling and lighter green vinyl sides. The seats are paired with green lap belts and the floors are lined with grey loop carpets. It has a two-spoke steering wheel with a gold Wolfsburg horn button, an overhead ventilation console, and a cabin heater. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order with no warning lights illuminated.
Power is provided by a rebuilt, rear-mounted 1.2-liter flat-four engine, delivering power to the rear wheels through a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission. It features an independent front suspension with trailing arms and rear swing axles, while drum brakes facilitate stopping power at all four corners. The suspension, steering, and brake systems were reportedly fully overhauled during the restoration.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This VW Bus was sourced in Brazil and then brought to the Restoration shop of Overland Imports. The Restoration was a full rotisserie restoration with custom paint and an upgraded interior. The engine is original, and all mechanical components have been restored. From Brazil, it was imported to Atlanta, GA where the Bus was again evaluated to make sure everything is in working order and the Bus drives well. A Conditional Title was obtained in the state of Georgia and all import paperwork was completed.”

@wingless these cars were not built for speed, this is an early model bus with a 36hp motor so the top speed is about 55mph.
Also confirming we are talking MPH (Miles per Hour).
So is maximum velocity with one passenger 55 mph, making comfortable cruising speed lower? Is 55 mph wide open throttle?
Please confirm mph not kmh.

@wingless The 1200 is a 36hp engine and it will top out at 55mph. These were cargo vehicles so they had reduction boxes on the rear axles in order to increase torque but that did sacrifice the speed a bit.
As far as the date codes on the tires. Tires do not a date stamp on them. Please see photos added to the gallery.
Does the vehicle go fast enough to drive on the highway? What is a comfortable cruising speed?
Asking again, what are the tire date codes?
@wingless no window tint all glass is new
Have any of the windows been tinted?
@wingless Correcting a typo
E fine = Engine
@wingless the air filter housing is there. If you look at all the e fine photos there is a black tube that comes off the carburetor and goes towards the driver side and ends in a bowl looking piece that’s the air filter housing
@wingless no the spare tire sits behind the front seats inside a cavity on the partition wall
Bid in the amount of $6,000
@wingless Asking again, is the engine missing the air filter housing?
So does the spare tire just lay loose on the floor behind the last seat, but is not shown in any of the images?
@wingless Let me us get those for you and we will revert back.
@wingless No water leak that we have noticed.
@wingless spare wheel yes but no jack
@Amasdaha Thankyou so much for the kind comment! A lot of work went into this one! to get to this stage. The 1200 is a 36hp engine and it will top out at 55mph. These were cargo vehicles so they had reduction boxes on the rear axles in order to increase torque but that did sacrifice the speed a bit.
@Matterman this trim was considered a Kombi from the factory. They normally came with only door cards and headliner on the front area. Past the bulkhead where the pare tire sits (partion) then the Kombi would have no upholstery other than the seats. On this restoration we added the Vinyl and Velour interior which gives the car a much more plush feel and look in order to complete its look. We also added other things such as chrome ashtray and rearview mirror, Wolfsburg Horn Button, amongst other little touches.

Bid in the amount of $2,500
What are the tire date codes?
Any water leaks, such as when driving in rain?
Is there a spare tire and jack?
Is the engine missing the air filter housing?
Looks lovely! Can you remind me how much Hp the 1200 made? Does this engine Kombi max out at highway speeds or doesn’t quite get there?
Is this trim also called a micro bus?
