The International Harvester Scout 80 holds a notable place in American off-road history, debuting as the first in the Scout series and becoming a strong competitor to Jeep’s early models. Powered by a 152ci inline-four paired with a 3-speed manual transmission and an overhauled dual-range transfer case, this 1961 launch-year example underwent a refurbishment and is finished refinished in teal over a reupholstered white vinyl interior. It features a removal hardtop, a custom wood-planked rear cargo floor, a 2.5” lifted suspension equipped with Bilstein shocks, white-finished 15” wheels, aftermarket steel bumpers, a heater and defroster, and more. This Scout 80 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wyoming.
The Scout 80 showcases a simple, boxy design focused on durability and ease of maintenance, with flat body panels and an upright windshield for a utilitarian, industrial appearance. This example is refinished in teal adorned with white accents and comes with a white-finished removable cab hardtop. It has aftermarket fabricated steel bumpers, and a color-coordinated textured bedliner has been applied to the front floor, wheel wells, and underside. It rides on white-finished 15” steel wheels wrapped in Toyo M/T Open Country tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior is appointed with front and rear bench seats reupholstered in white vinyl, featuring diamond-stitched inserts. The front cabin is finished in a teal and white color scheme, while the rear cargo area is lined with custom wood-planked flooring extending over the wheelhouses. Additional features include a heater with a defroster, horizontally sliding removable windows, and a lockable glovebox.
Power comes from a 152ci inline-four engine equipped with a single carburetor, which delivers a factory-rated at 93 HP and 143 lb.-ft of torque to the rear or all four wheels through a rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission and a twin-stick dual-range transfer case. The seller notes the engine was rebuilt, and various under-hood components were powder-coated during a refurbishment completed in 2024, which also included a full wiring replacement. Additional equipment includes dual fuel tanks and the installation of hydraulic hood support struts.
This sale will include a clean title.

@mcasalino72 @mcasalino72, good morning! I do appreciate the kind offer. It’s going to take full BIN to sell the scout.
Looking forward to hearing back from you @Hdecker83
I just noticed that the parts/build list was never uploaded. If you look to the last 3 pics I just submitted you will see the parts list totaling almost $22K in parts alone and the engine machining receipt.

I apologize in the delayed response. I have not been able to log in to my account from my phone and have not been at my computer for a few days. I'm here if anyone has any last minute questions.
@mpiazza1 then engine was machined in Billings, MT at Magic City and the assembly was done in Sheridan by JW Auto.
@teracingusa it is 4x4.
@teracingusa the listing states it is four-wheel. Thank you.
Can you tell me where the engine and transmission were rebuilt. Is there paperwork available for these rebuilds?
Would you be willing to deliver to Billings

HI everyone! just saying hi and catching up. I am late to the game here. I was unaware that my scout went live. I am here now and ready to answer any questions.
Best,
Heather
@a.leith100 , the hardtop is steel. If I had to guess, probably around 100 lbs. It can easily be lifted by one person however, 2 people is handy.
