This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BT7 Roadster was previously refurbished and is refinished in blue over a blue interior with white piping. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, it is equipped with front disc brakes, a hood scoop, a black soft top, a tonneau cover, detachable side windows with detachable side curtains, chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire-spoke wheels, a 2+2 seating arrangement, a cabin heater, and more. Showing approximately 75k miles on the odometer, this BT7 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.
As part of its refurbishment, this example was refinished in blue and equips a black soft top with detachable side curtains. The equipment also includes chrome bumpers with overriders, a hood scoop, fender-mounted side mirrors, bright trim, a tonneau cover, and chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire-spoke wheels wrapped in older tires. The seller states the base coat/clear coat paint has no uneven texture, shows very well, and has no noticeable flaws. The brightwork is said to be free of pitting, and the wire wheels are excellent. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The refreshed cabin features bucket seats reupholstered in blue leather with contrasting white piping. It has chrome accents, a three-spoke steering wheel, door storage pockets, and center-mounted Smiths gauges consisting of a tachometer, speedometer, fuel, and oil pressure gauges. The seller describes the interior to be in clean condition with little wear, and notes the starter has been replaced. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six engine equipped with dual SU carburetors, which delivers a factory-rated 124 HP and 162 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The suspension features an independent front setup with coil springs and wishbones, complemented by a rear live axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Front disc and rear drum brakes facilitate stopping power. The seller reports that the vehicle has no major leaks, the shocks have been recently replaced, and the wiring harness has been serviced. The engine starts easily, the choke functions properly, and it idles smoothly.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, a tonneau cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I personally have known this car for 30+ years. It is well cared for and in outstanding condition. 3rd party inspections welcomed.”

exhaust pipes are not painted it is a BT7 as indicated on the Heritage certificate. overdrive works
..the BIG difference being that the BT7 are 4-seaters and not the much more scarce 2-seat BN7 roadsters.
"Plastic above the muffler is a heat shield" ? .. Hopefully not, but is a proper heat-shield of fire-proof material (asbestos-infused?) that won't melt or catch fire.
Does the OverDrive work correctly? ..Not switching it off (as seen in the photos here) is a good way to break it when it's on thru 1st & 2nd..
Are the exhaust pipes mild-steel and painted or unpainted stainless-steel ? ..that will determine whether removing the mfg's decal (that should have been peeled off when installed) or melted plastic baggie on the tailpipes will require a repaint of pipes or not... ..Shame the installer welded the segments together (when available wide-band exhaust clamps are supposed to be used) and then over-sprayed the welds with rattle-can paint onto the chassis body...
So I’m just seeing this now… this car is advertised as a BN7 but is in fact a BT7. Big difference…and false information.
The previous owner had service done in a local shop but didn't supply the receipts. We noted the most recent upgrades, including starter, shocks, and fuel pump. The plastic above the muffler is a heat shield. This is a great running Healey in great condition.
Are there any service records available?
What is the material above the muffler? I assume it was added for heat shielding but never seen that before.
looks like plastic on the tailpipe
engine # 29d/rl/8138 driving video included in pictures
Is that corrosion or a melted plastic bag on the tail pipes below the rear bumper?
Can we get a picture of the engine number stamping?
I will look at that and find out
Can the seller confirm if the left rear brake cylinder is leaking or is that from the rear end tube seal...the drum backing plat is "wet" which would indicatre some form of leak there. Thank you for your time in advance
The previous owner indicated there had been a wiring issue that was repaired . all the gauges and accessories are working
