We are pleased to present this 1959 Porsche 356A 1600 Coupe finished in Pearl White over a black vinyl interior. Having been part of the same family since new, this example was originally purchased through Porsche San Diego in 1959, where the purchaser elected for a European delivery resulting in a 3 month stay on the streets of Germany before making its way home. This numbers matching example sat for 22 years before undergoing an extensive restoration process by its current owner and former Master Technician. Featuring a rebuilt flat 4-cylinder engine, a fully reupholstered cabin and a bare-metal refinished exterior, this 356A is now being offered for auction showing approximately 106k miles on the odometer by its seller in Colorado.
In 2013 this once Silver Metallic 356 was taken down to bare metal and refinished in Pearl White. During this time, all new rubber seals were installed and the brightwork was fully reconditioned. Stated to have been garage kept since the completion of the restoration, the exterior finish is said to be in excellent condition. A collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery. This 356 rides on a set of chrome 15” Porsche crested wheels with fresh Falken tires, though the original KPZ wheels will be included in the sale.
This coupe features a reupholstered black vinyl interior to cover its original red coverings. The front seats were recovered, the dashboard was refinished, and new carpeting was installed along with a new headliner. The seat recliners have been re-chromed and many of the interior components have also been replaced. An upgraded AM/FM head unit has been outfitted and the gauges have been completely rebuilt by North Hollywood Speedometer. The interior is said to be in excellent shape with all electrical components and accessories remaining fully functional.
This 356 carries its original 1.6 L flat 4-cylinder engine which sends power to the rear wheels by way of a numbers matching 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the engine was completely rebuilt in 1988 with approximately 5k miles added since. A new stock exhaust system has been installed, the gas tank has been cleaned and restored, and the car has been upgraded to a 12v generator system. An electronic ignition distributor has also been equipped. Accompanied by a collection of service records, this 356 underwent a recent oil change and is said to be in excellent running order.
The sale of this gorgeous 356 will include a set of two keys, the original glove box key, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, extra K&N air filters, the original distributor, a spare fuel pump, front headlight stone guards, extra hardware from the restoration and a copy of the original title. Do not miss out on this incredible opportunity to own this beautifully restored Porsche 356A.
