This 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster was built by Vintage Speedsters of Hawaiian Gardens, California, and comes finished in Meissen Blue over tan leatherette upholstery. The handcrafted fiberglass bodywork is mounted on a 1968 Volkswagen chassis, and the car is powered by a 1915cc flat-four engine with dual Empi carburetors. It also features a 4-speed manual transmission with freeway flier gearing, a Vintage Speed Sebring high-performance exhaust, and more. Driven approximately 18k miles since the build, this Speedster replica is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nevada.
The exterior comes finished in the classic Porsche shade of Meissen Blue. Appointments include a tan soft top, chrome trim, a driver’s side mirror, headlight cages, and gold badging. The aftermarket 15” Fuchs-style steels are dressed in like-new Nexen tires mounted approximately 250 miles ago. New door handle gaskets, a new German AC grille badge, and a set of 15” European Classic slotted wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps are also included. Some spider cracks are noted in the paint, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the driver is greeted with tan leatherette upholstery with a matching dashboard pad, tan square-weave carpeting, and newly installed Coco floor mats. Equipment includes a body-color dashboard, a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, a passenger grab handle, door pockets, a JVC stereo, and a sound system. All gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
Power comes from a 1915cc flat-four engine featuring dual Empi HPMX carburetors synched by Vintage Speed. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission featuring freeway flier gearing. Performance features include a VintageSpeed Sebring high-performance exhaust, adjustable shocks, and front disc brakes. The seller adds that an inspection was performed in 2023, leading to the repair of a small leaky seal. No current outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title, a car cover, a new SMC ignition with two keys, new door handle gaskets, and a new German AC grille badge. A set of 15” European Classic slotted wheels with Porsche-crested hubcaps are also included.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for almost 2 years and store it in a climate-controlled garage. The car looks great, always turns heads, runs excellent and is a blast to drive!”

It is titled in NV as a 2023 (Year) ASVE (Make; Assembled Vehicle) 1957 Porsche (Model). This made no diff in the cost or value for Hagerty insurance.
Is the car titled as a special construction vehicle (SPCV), and what year is it titled as?
Thanks
Good morning! As we move into the final hours of the auction, I am happy to answer any lingering questions or respond to comments. This is a solid car, built to replicate the great driving experience of the Speedster, with improved performance. Good bidding!!!

@SubRedTed I will post front end undercarriage photos today. It does not currently leak any fluid. I bought the car from a guy who took it as payment for services with no records (unfortunate!).
@SubRedTed or might I add, photos of the front end undercarriage*
Do you have any photos of the undercarriage? Does it leak any fluid? Do you have maintenance logs for the vehicle?
@smsarchitects Just added!

nice build. are there pics with the top up and the door window inserts?
Bid in the amount of $2,500
@gregsm I don’t know the build year, but based on the mileage I would guess late 90s to early 2000s. It is a solid build!
Do you know what year the car was built by Vintage Speedsters? I had one from the 90’s and it was very well made. Love the color!!
Hello and Happy Friday to all! Thank you for looking and I will be monitoring the comments and answering questions as quickly as I can. Updates/additions: 1) the cover is a new navy SealSkin cover w/ bag; 2) the classic wheels are 5x205 bolt pattern so would require original hubs (Fuchs style wheels are 5x130); and 3) I will replace the battery prior to delivery as it functions now but is ~5 years old. Thanks again!
