Up for auction is this 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster Replica by Vintage Speedsters. Featuring custom widened fiberglass bodywork over a modified 1972 VW Beetle chassis, this 356 replica was built by the original Vintage Speedsters company and comes equipped with a dual-carbureted 1,915cc air-cooled engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The car is finished in red over a custom tan leather interior with an upgraded sound system. This Speedster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio with just over 13k miles showing on the odometer.
The handmade fiberglass bodywork resembles a Porsche 356A Speedster and features widened fenders, chrome brightwork, headlight guards, and a retractable black soft top with a matching tonneau cover and removable side windows. The car is painted red and Porsche Carrera badging is located below the rear decklid along with an ornamental Porsche crest affixed to the hood. The car rides on a set of wide 17” 5-spoke chrome wheels fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps and 2015 Federal tires sized 235/40.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in tan leather upholstery with a painted dashboard and deviated black carpets. Equipment includes a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, an Empi reverse lockout shifter, Porsche crested lap belts, and a custom sound system with a JVC head unit and Pioneer speakers. The seller reports the lights, windshield wipers, and heating system to be fully functional.
Power comes from a dual-carbureted 1,915cc flat-four VW engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Stopping power is handled by disc brakes in front and drum brakes in the rear. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by Vintage Speedsters and a recent safety inspection was completed by a Volkswagen specialist.
Offered with a clean title, this widebody Speedster replica is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new owner.

@dicksmith2436 If I pay your ask could you include a mechanics inspection in addition to the safety inspection? The inspection that we completed was done by a certified mechanic. If their is another person you would like to inspect the car we could discuss that. Would a credit card be acceptable? The payment would be made to us via wire. How much would total cost be. There is a 5% fee from Pcar. Beyond that we only have one other fee of $250. Car and auction fees and any other items? Would you help ship? I would be willing to split shipping cost with you. If you make an offer on Dealtank we could go from there.
@CCCltd Thanks for quick response

@dicksmith2436 Undercarriage photos will be posted soon. I just submitted them to the Pcar Market team. Thanks.
@CCCltd Can you send me pictures of the undercarriage? Please
@TyStav That's the price that will buy it. Worth every penny. It is a really nice car.
@CCCltd nice car. I wish it had the build documentation and some documented history. I think that alone would increase the price into low $40Ks. GLWS.

@CCCltd Great looking for sheet
@dicksmith2436 The inspection was done by Jase Cox owner of Lead Foot Customs. He works on all of our inventory. I have asked the PCar Market team to upload the inspection sheet. It should be up shortly.
Additional content has been added to the listing gallery.
@dicksmith2436 It was built by Vintage Speedsters out of Arizona. I will upload a copy of the inspection that was done ASAP. The checklist of items inspected will be shown including good working order of lights instruments, radio, etc.
@CCCltd Do you know if this was shop built, factory or individual buld?
Thank you
@CCCltd Please expand on what a safety certification includes.
Doe s it include motor, transmission, shocks, tires, muffler and all instruments to be in working order? or just that it is safe to operate?
@diamondmotorworks @rsbuys I bought it from California and I did not have detailed records on the build sheet or actual date. The inspection we did shows very minimal wear on any of the parts. The tires are dated 2015. I cannot say for certain the build date.
@dicksmith2436 No, older cars did not have 17 digit VIN numbers. This car is already titled with its proper VIN number of 10 digits. You will not have any problem.
Hi. Does this come with build paperwork, receipts, etc? What year was it built? Thanks.

@brucekaf The car shifts very responsively as well. Other than having a 1900cc dual carbureted motor are there other specifics you would like me to address regarding the motor?
@brucekaf With the wonderful Ohio weather we are having, I will do my best to get one. I will most likely not be able to get the video today but may have a window of good weather tomorrow. With that said, it cruses at about 60-65 MPH around 4000 RPM.
A driving video at SPEED would be helpful for me. I've had similar powered replicas and performance makes a difference for me.
