This 1957 BMW Isetta 300 is said to have remained in the care of the same owner since 2012 and has been subject to a nut and bolt rotisserie restoration including a repaint in its original color of Japan Red, a reupholstered gray interior, and a rebuild of the 298cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine. This BMW Isetta is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Montreal, Canada.
This Isetta is finished in Japan Red (311) and was completely repainted as part of the restoration. Equipment includes a white fabric soft top, a chrome front bumper, a hinged outward-opening front end, a polished fuel cap, chrome body trim, and a driver’s side mirror. The 13” steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and BFGoodrich Silvertown tires. The seller reports the rear bumper is dull and shows some scratches. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The front has been reupholstered in gray fabric with red piping and a center-mounted BMW roundel. Amenities include a floor-mounted three-spoke steering wheel, a BMW Isetta-branded shift knob, black rubber floor liners, sliding side windows, a single windshield wiper, a reverse-sweeping VDO tachometer, and a rearview mirror.
This Isetta is powered by a 298cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine rated at 13 HP and 14 lb.-ft of torque. The engine is said to have been rebuilt during the restoration and sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The suspension consists of coil springs in front with leaf springs in the rear, while braking is handled by two hydraulic front drums and a single drum assembly in the rear.
This sale will include a clean title, some service documentation, and a Matchbox BMW Isetta toy.
