Crafted by the specialists at Beck, this car is a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder replica finished in silver over red with a 1915cc CB Performance engine paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. It features dual Weber carburetors, adjustable twin torsion I-beam front suspension, adjustable rear spring plates, front disc brakes, a Nardi steering wheel, and chrome 15” steel wheels. Purchased by the current owner in 2018 and driven sparingly during summer months, this Beck 550 Spyder is now being offered for auction out of Maine.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in silver metallic paint and features gold Spyder badging on the front fenders, a hood with a center-mounted fuel filler, a round driver’s side mirror, chrome-trimmed windscreen, and a rear clamshell decklid with twin engine grilles. The car rides on chrome staggered width 15” slotted steel wheels with Porsche crest center caps. The seller indicates some chips and scratches around the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a pair of red vinyl bucket seats with matching carpets and a painted dashboard. Accessories include a wood-rimmed Nardi three-spoke steering wheel, red lap belts, black carpet floor mats with red Spyder lettering, and a set of analog VDO gauges. The seller indicates some signs of wear on the carpets. All gauges and electrical features are said to be working properly.
This 550 Spyder replica is equipped with an air-cooled CB Performance 1,915cc flat-four engine featuring dual Weber carburetors. A claimed output of 125 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission with a high-performance clutch. The chassis includes fully adjustable twin torsion I beam front suspension, rear torsion bar suspension with adjustable spring plates, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. The seller indicates there are no outstanding maintenance items.
This sale will include a spare tire, a car cover, and a registration.
The seller would like you to know: “This re-creation by Beck of the iconic Porsche 550 Spyder has delivered years of exhilarating summer drives, blending enjoyment with performance. Featuring a 1915 cc engine generating 125 hp, dual Weber Carbs, and a high-performance clutch, this compact marvel promises to bring joy to its next owner. So, I just spoke with Beck Motorcar regarding the Beck Badge. The early models most likely did not come with one. It is however common that owners of this vintage request one that they can install. The frame stamp was exactly where they told me it was and is pictured in photo number 38

onemoretoy I believe the ID plate in the frunk on the Rt side below the gas tank is what folks would have like to have seen. It"s the Beck ID plate that has the cars production number on it. It's an easy way to verify it's a Beck. I'm quite sure it is a Beck as I've owned several and still own one, but it gives others confidence in what there bidding on and would have helped your auction considerably in my humble opinion if that picture would have been included.

@Michaelscheid25 I would urge you to contact Beck Motorcar Co. they are very knowledgeable and very easy to contact. I would think they could give you all the distances etc regarding a motor upgrade/replacement.
@onemoretoy Beck Motorcar Company
you can find them in a quick google search.....PCar will not allow me to send the phone number.
Perhaps they could provide more information.

@Jdakota According to Beck Manufacturing, the only stamping is that which they pointed me to in the frame. I do not have other paperwork. Maine does not require a title. Sale is transferred through the signature on the backside of the registration.
So to be clear, the only identification on the spyder is the numbers on frame, no beck plate,or no beck paperwork ,also no history that is noteded in auction. Is there a title or only a registration?
Checking on paperwork.
Thanks
@onemoretoy I'm trying to fit a flat six out of a 2008 porsche in there. From what I can see I don't think there is enough room. Your thoughts?
@Jdakota as I mentioned in an earlier post, from the vin number and a call to Beck, their records indicate the car went into service in 2000/2001. Not being the original owner I can not verify more than that. Sorry
@Michaelscheid25 I've uploaded a few more pictures. If there a specific perspective you'd like, let me know. Thanks

Is there a beck factor plate showing year and production numbers?
@Michaelscheid25 Sure thing.....I'll get on it tomorrow. I'll also try a video.
do you happen to have more detailed photos of the engine compartment? I have an interest in the car but with the purpose of putting a different Porsche engine in it. I’m trying to figure out whether or not there’s enough room. Thanks, in advance.

@jab7106 I have posted the date codes on the tires. I think due to the two different tire sizes (front/rear) the coding is different. There are no signs of dry rot or cracking on any of the tires and the tread shows only minimal even wear.
I just noticed that I am missing a photo of one of the front disk brakes.....I'll take the photo tomorrow and post tomorrow evening.
Friday evening I will post a cold start video. Please don't hesitate to ask for other pictures or questions. This is a fantastic little sports car and will be sure to put a little tingle in the neck hairs !!!!!
@jab7106 Yes, please read below, I have answered this and I have also posted pictures of the passenger seat travel from just about the same camera position.
@onemoretoy i have posted pictures that show the forward and back positioning of the passenger seat. I suspect it has always been in the furthest back position.
@jab7106 I have posted some underside photos. There is a belly cover that is completely intact that covers from the front until behind the cockpit. Then there are many more photos of the engine compartment from both above and below. Let me know if you would like others.
@MGUNIX there were no leaks/drips from the gearbox or case. There is apparently a small drip from the driverside valve cover. It appears to drip on to the exhaust pipe.

What are the date codes on the tires
Any leaks?
When was last fluid service, ie oil/filter,brake fluid, gear oil??
Can you show a photo of the Beck Serial number plate?
@SANDEEP I wondered the same and researched the vin# with Beck Motorcar Company.....their records indicate it first went into service in late 2000 or early 2001.
